David-Wisse 5 Posted March 23, 2016 My first portrait with a new Pentax 77mm f1.8 Limited lens - one that I've wanted for quite awhile - and finally swallowed hard and bought. It's supposedly a 'legendary" portrait lens - but I think I'll like it just as well for intimate landscapes. Thoughts welcome, David Link to comment
Ken Ratcliffe 103,723 Posted March 23, 2016 Looks a super image, lots of nice fine detail, no distortion and beautiful natural colours. The new lens looks like a winner, great capture. Best regards Ken. Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted March 23, 2016 Phenomenal clarity and detail. Love the new lens (results) but the expression is priceless. Even before seeing your title my thought was "I smell bacon" ;-)... Mike Link to comment
David-Wisse 5 Posted March 23, 2016 Thanks much Ken & Mike. After looking at this one again I decided to bump up the exposure 1/3 stop, otherwise no change. Mike - she is scenting a distant woodcock, which she eventually found and flushed. (bacon would elicit a similar look though, perhaps with a bit more drool). David Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted March 23, 2016 The lens certainly looks like it lives up to it's reputation. Wonderful texture and detail. The "sniffing the air" pose gives her a very "aloof" look that is both comical and lovable at the same time! Very well done David! Alf Link to comment

krpradu 125 Posted March 24, 2016 About this portrait I have nothing to say that is incredible good in details and so nice separation from bg,her posture caught deserves ten points. After saw this portrait and with what you did it I had a look on specification of this lens and is indeed very interesting one.I do not know I told you or not I am a Pentax user too and that why few time ago I asked you about Rose portrait you did(that is incredible nice) and you told me that was done with 50mm 1.8.If I compare this one with that one done with 50mm both are very good with sharp and clear main subject and nice bg.A limited lens has very good optical performance for sure.Wait to see more done and to compare and know about this lens.best regards and lot of walks and photos to be Link to comment
