I really like the textures in the aged leaning fence, and the fact that it draws my eye to the equally aged shed. The foreground grasses and creeping ivy are other very pleasing elements. The lone tree on the horizon adds a bit of depth to the scene. My only dislike is the very pale sky which makes the scene look a little bland.

Best Regards

Hello Alf, Thank you very much for your critique. The little tree in the distance and the fence tend to emphasize yet also counter the central placement of the shed.  I agree about the sky but that was all that was when I visited this somewhat remote community (St-Alexis-des-Monts, about 140 km or 85 miles north east of Montreal). I think I could try rendering the image slightly colder to complement the sky, rather than making the white balance using the grey of the shed.

You're an effective story-teller, whether or not it's intentional! I love the textures in this image and the fence leading me to the shed makes me wonder who or what is in there. The only thing I would suggest is to move the shed off-center for a more interesting composition.
