Thanks. I must have shot this flower about 8 times and it was mostly cloudy and

overcast. On this final shot a small amount of sunlight broke through and highlighted

the background. Aperture was f5.6 with my Nikkor 70-300mm

I'm so glad it's not just me that doesn't get it perfect first time : - )

Love the separation from the background, the sharpness and the colours!  Beautifully done!

Best Regards

CHARLES, MIKE, BILL,  JOSCELYN, PATSY, ALF and AJ, I am glad you like it also. The background I feels adds to the aesthetic value. A photographer here at photo.net, many moons ago, preached to me that "if it does not add value then subtract".

Alf, the other 7 shots are not bad but I inexplicably kept feeling that I had not 'got it right'. Not sure if I got this one right but it is the one I wanted to share.

All the best,

Hi Tony. The bokeh is divine and fit for a Princess! Love this shot! Wonderful light, details and composition too. Best wishes. Sarah

Bela and Sarah - many thanks.  I don't really like to show my failures but here is one I rejected and will probably delete but it was a different flower head in the same set and I found it too busy with too many elements competing with the colorful part of the flower. There is also an out-of-focus purple flower in the foreground.
