The rock was lightpainted with a very small red light for only a few seconds. No

moon. It was a cold night and also humid. It was difficult to avoid humidity on

the lens and rapid action was necessary. This is only a few kilometres south of

Puerto Natales, but enough to avoid the lights of the city. Rating and Critiques

welcome. Thanks.

So this image is not a composite? You put just enough light on that stone? Impressive work! Well worth a 6.

Best regards,

The stars and night sky look fantastic and the placement of the rock in the frame is good both in terms of position and proportion.

The effect of the red light is striking if somewhat surreal, but then that is perhaps the effect you were seeking?

Purely as a person preference I would like to have seen the rock in it's natural hues. But a great image nonetheless!

Best Regards

Thank you Alf,

The photo was taken with a temperature of light of 3.050. If you iluminate the rock with normal white light with this temperature, the rock will look blue. If you iluminate it with a yellow light, the rock gets green. So I preferred the red light, which stayed the same with the temperature of light used and red and blue (sky) looks better than any of the other colours mentioned. Much more striking and surreal and quite a nice effect.I used red in another photo, and in another place, which did not come well at all. But might depend also of the meteorologic conditions, humidity, time of the action etc. I am in the learning and discovering process, and all can learn with me. Thank you for all the comments.
