krpradu 125 Posted August 24, 2013 A short afternoon walk with one of my friend in a protected area with lot of nice grass, flowers and birds, nothing more to ask for a so peaceful location. Most of time is windy here but in a sunny day is so well to feel it.I hesitated for this to upload in color or bw,because the front bush is with superb violet flowers, but same time the whole composition looks better to me in bw. Eystein 1 Posted August 24, 2013 When you put a color image and a B/W together, one has a tendency to think that the color image is best. I the color version you have some flowers in the foreground that I think make the image. But I also like the B/W version.Regards Eystein Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted August 24, 2013 I very much like the scope of this which seems to open up as a wide vista before us. (The director David Lean could do that very well in movies like Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago. You don't see that much today where digital effects often replace on location shooting.) The inclusion of the hiker gives a definite and necessary sense of scale and adds a certain empathetic feeling to the picture. Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted August 24, 2013 Whilst the colour image has appeal, I prefer the B & W.The shapes, textures and tones become that much more apparent and the clouds allow the viewer an opportunity to interpret the image with more mood and atmosphere. I agree with Jack regarding the scale appreciation with the hiker present.Nice work Radu! Alf Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 278 Posted August 25, 2013 They are both beautiful, maybe I prefer the B&W! Well done, Radu! Best regards PDE Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted August 25, 2013 Fabulous image and not much more to add. The only thing I missed in the black and white is those wonderful mauve/purple flowers in the foreground. Photoshop CS B&W conversion allows you to play with 'color sliders'. Is it possible that there is a magenta slider that would make that specific color appear lighter in the conversion and as a consequence more noticeable? This is not an important aspect to an already very good image as I see it converted to B&W. Link to comment
krpradu 125 Posted August 25, 2013 Eystein,it seems that you have same feeling as I do concerning bw or color one.Thank you for your words, appreciate. Link to comment
krpradu 125 Posted August 25, 2013 Jack,is very interesting your comment and I think all over the world can find images that can delight not only the eyes but more of this, when you said about Doctor Zhivago my mind goes to those splendid winter scene on the palace with frost every where,a dreamy image. We have every where landscapes and not enough time to see the nature jewels.I appreciate your profound each time comment. krpradu 125 Posted August 25, 2013 Alf,may be few years ago even if I know this area from a long time I did not see it and worked like now, why?because after so many interesting photos seen here on PN and discussions with lot of members like you changed and enhanced the concept about how to render an image, for this I feel very good because I think is a progress and gives positive energy. My best regards to you, thank you. krpradu 125 Posted August 25, 2013 Tony,so as you said the purple flowers was the reason I uploaded both images,bw and color.Walking there was something so nice to see this vivid color in a green yellow grass.Looking this image my mind think about how this can be in November at first frost and not too much snow. I appreciate your comment,I have always to learn something from your work, all the best. Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted August 25, 2013 Hello Radu, It is a difficult decision sometimes choosing which image to go with, here for example both images are extremely good and I too like both of them. The view is of a man or woman walking towards the top of a hill and I like the fact that there is a group of trees in the distance it provides a destination and imo balances the image. Very well seen and presented whichever way you go.Sincerely,Holger Link to comment
