Gail, not much left to say here but this has to be one of the most interesting/dramatic skies I've ever seen.  Really cool, and a bit scary.  Very nicely done.

A phenomena beautifully recorded and presented.  The impressive resolution and lack of noticeable grain in this image seems remarkable to me.  Perhaps there is something I am not understanding and a magic you have discovered about GIF files.  Whatever it is, keep up the magic.

Wow!!! Gail, this is excellent but scary, I hope you are okay. I love the definition of the clouds and its colors.

Hugs,

LuDa

Yes, I can understand how you feel Warren. You have seen enough of 'horrific' weather to last you a lifetime I think. The only place I could go was our basement and I figured I could make it there in time....but I could have been very wrong!!!! Thanks for taking the time to visit and share your thoughts!! ;-) Gail

Gail, (after doing a little research) it appears choosing disable or enable "Block Downloads of my Images" in Account Option on our workspace page forces a gif overlay or allows images to be displayed as jpeg files.  Supposedly the gif overlay discourages or prevents downloading images.

Now I understand what you mean!!! Yes, it is an option you can choose to help prevent people from 'stealing' you images. I have images that I have found on other sites, one site the person is linked to a Country where I cannot identify the dialect. The site is called Wird.com.ua and it looks like they have downloaded them directly from PN, some even after I started using the 'gif cover'.

If you search many of us on google ie 'Gail Harmer Photographer" you will and click on the tab IMAGES, all my images are there, by hovering the mouse over each image is how I found this site that has my images. I am afraid to make a comment or email because I do not know the country of origin. The person who has posted them goes under 'newsadmin' and was born in Jly 2011. Really bugs me. I have found some of Toney Hadley's images there as well. I wrote Tony to tell him, no reply...I cannot figure it out, but it really bugs me.

thanks Wayne for letting me know what you meant.

Dear Gail,

WOW! I'm very sorry about that. These clouds looks very, very scary. I'm happy nothing bad happened to you and your family! I hope you will never have this horrible experience again. Thank you for sharing.

Best regards, Tina

It was scary. I am very afraid of storms, especially when they involve wind. For some reason, about the only nightmares I have are of a Tornado coming towards me and I cannot 'get' to my children. No idea why I dream that, perhaps it is just me being a Mom and my fear of being separated from them. Many thanks Tina for your concern and visit.

Great capture of the turbulence, and I think it was a good idea to leave a little of the roof line in for scale and variety.  We live in tornado alley, and I hate it.  But we've always lived in an area with tall trees around and I could never see the weather system coming.  We've just moved to a flatter area with few trees, so I'm actually looking forward to watching storm systems coming.  At least then I'll KNOW if I'm going to be blown away.  haha  Hey, I read that you got the 24-105 lens!  Isn't it amazing!?  I love that lens so much, and that's the one usually on my camera.

wow...tornado alley!!! I am very scared of wind storms....not sure why they scare me most. I get very uneasy, but I guess who wouldn't. We have a good view because we have a raised deck. It is very windy here. We have an old American Elm that must be over 100 years old, tallest tree around. Whenever it gets real windy, I'm always scared it may come down on the house. Yes I LOVE the 24-105mm. We have a second hand online FREE site where people can sell things. It is connected to ebay I think. My Dad saw that someone was selling one for a very reasonable price. He checked it out for me and I picked it up much cheaper than it ever has gone on sale for.  I use it a lot as well. I do hope you get some 'storm shots' but I hope you are never in 'danger' !

Indiana is in tornado 'alley', so we're used to seeing skies like this.  But I never think to photograph them.  This is excellent, and I like that you've included a little of the roof as well.
