Young man on a foggy hillside

bjarni_m.

Originally shot with a color negative film, but since it seemed flat and boring in colors, the image was converted to black and white. I don't remember the technical capturing details except that it was shot with the zoom at 17 mm.

The picture doesn't do much for me. What does the man have to do with the road? Is him a runner? If so, show him running and then the photo will tell a history at least.

This is a great portrait because of how unusual it is. The background and using a wide angle lens distinguishes this image far from the maddening crowd.

This is far more original than 90% of the postings arround here. You don't need always a story on a image.

It is excellently done, the road and foggy background are subtle enough to not distract from your portraited man. He's well lighted and the overall tonal range is good. What more could we be asking for?

You should have put the man a little more to the left. Thus the right third of the frame wouldn't be so empty.

Excellent photo! Even critically geared comments add to its originality.

"...What does the man have to do with the road? Is him a runner..."

This could be another version of the caption.

I agree with Predrag Jankovic (about placing the guy a little more to the left), but this is a great photo nonetheless. The guy's expression, along with the road and the fog, IMO tells the "story" someone said is missing.

First of all, thanks to all of you for taking the time to view the picture, and to place a comment and/or rate the picture.

Some of you are suggesting, that the man ought to be more in the center of the picture. I tried to crop the picture, before i made my mind up. When the man was placed more to the center i tought the picture seemed to be "less dramatic".

That's why i chose this version.

But anyway: Nobody's perfect, or...?

Great shot! I especially like the expression on his face and the road disappearing into the fog. Makes you imagine many intense thoughts going through his head... I feel like this somedays....
