Bill & Patsy,

Many thanks for your visits and encouraging comments!

I really wasn't sure it would even be "keepable" because of concentrating on trying to get the correct exposure on the white ducks eye and bill.  Then after I downloaded it from the camera I noticed the ducks blue eyes!

Thought the result was worth a try anyway!

Would welcome any recommendations within my post processing capabilities that could improve the overexposure appearance of the white duck.

Again, many thanks,

Jim j.

PS; I'm travelling and currently don't have access to my editing software but, did find a computer I could get on and respond to and/or spend some time here on PN!

Thanks for taking the time to view, comment/critique, rate and,

allowing me the opportunity to seek advice!

I was after proper exposure on the White Ducks Bill and Eye which I

think I got. Any post processing recommendations that would farther

enhance the overall appearance and attractiveness?

I was really surprised the first time I viewed this after downloading

from the camera to the computer that he/she had blue eyes.

Other than the crop for composition and a bit of cloning to clean up

some mud on the bill, it's just as it came out of the camera.

Shooting details are in the "details" tab.

Thanks again,

Jim j.

I have to be honest and say that its the over exposure that presents one of the elements that I find really attractive about this image.

I really wouldn't change a thing. The image conveys to me a "Jemima Duck" kind of childrens book illustration that I find utterly compelling.

I would certainly hang this on a wall in a childrens bedroom and be very proud of it!

The blue eye and yellow bill are accentuated by the whiteness and it all comes together perfectly for me.

If this is up for rating it gets a 7 for me. I can't remember the last time I got this excited about an image!

You tried something different and the results are excellent!

It might not have been intentional, but I think you have stumbled onto a winner.

Well done Jim!

Powerful white, but not blown-out. Full frame portrait makes for a dramatic composition.  Jim, your exploration of the art is admirable and for me educational.

Alf summed up this image in admirable fashion..................

Congrats on your "bravery" in posting this image in the first instance....... always nervous of those who only see possible errors in images rather than from a different perspective.

Well done

Regards

Nice framing. I think I personally would have preferred some more details in the white feathers because it is such a big part of the frame but I'm not sure what could be done - it's a give and take with the exposure of what you want. Not sure if any highlight recovery in post processing could do much.
