Guest Guest Posted April 28, 2013 Well Alf if you don't do the mileage your are not going to get the photos.Out of the latest 3 i like this one the most,i think the composition is better and the depth in all those layers is brilliant, wonderful muted atmosphere.excellent work AlfMy best regards Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted April 28, 2013 This one has practically no processing at all. RAW conversion and crop top and bottom to give the pano effect, other than that you are seeing exactly what I did, and of course what the camera did. Your thoughts and comments are aways appreciated. Thank You. Link to comment
kazimir 5 Posted April 28, 2013 One picture at the time - I'm still comprehend the previous one!Let's say two pictures a week? Your images are so good that, really, let us enjoy for some time until other one come (my opinion, of course). But, same problem I see and with Bela Lazslo Molnar - he also (in my opinion) is a great landscape artist who just present his great pictures on almost daily basis. I can't comprehend - let alone response - to that amount of beauty. Also, I understand the Urge!!!!!!! Link to comment
JamieK 1 Posted April 29, 2013 it's not the overall colour cast. the scale of this one and the way big and small interact seem much more visually mature. best, j Link to comment
gi11 0 Posted April 29, 2013 The larger view is a long dream, a journey in a mysterious land. Beautiful Alf! Link to comment
lintrathen 15 Posted April 29, 2013 Another amazing image. Many years ago, when flyfishing took precedence over photography, scenes like this were the everyday occurance, yet I took them for how I saw them, a damn cold early morning.... waiting for a bite. Through your lens, you bring back many memories, for which I thank you........Best regards Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted April 30, 2013 Many Thanks for your thoughts and kind words.Shooting with a wider aperture becomes easier when the light is gentle, and the light of dawn was just that. I did take a couple of shots, just before first light, and they took on that strange blue tone that seems to appear when light is very low.Cheers Mike! Alf HARRY Good to hear from you I hope you are keeping well!I guess you know all about travelling : - )Glad you liked this one, other than the crop it is virtually untouched.Sincere Thanks & Best Regards Alf NEBOJSA Many Thanks for your most generous and encouraging words.Generally speaking, I do only tend to upload one image at a time, but as there were three distinctly different images from the same session, I thought I'd allow a comparison to take place and just see which image proved most popular.I do usually also tend to leave the same images for 2 - 3 weeks before uploading more. I just don't have time to upload more : - )Its very pleasing to know you enjoyed viewing them.Best Regards Alf JAMIEThere can't possibly be two Jamie Krafts .........or can there? No I didn't think so. : - )But just pondering why the comment on 2 different names? I'm not complaining, but just curious.I too like the subtle colour......so subtle almost monochromeMany Thanks for oyur input Jamie, it is always much appreciated! Best Regards Alf GIUSEPPEI am so pleased that the mystical element was communicated to you effectively. Many Thanks & Best Regards Alf GRAYHAM I know just what you mean about encoutering the misty water at dawn as a fisherman. The eager anticipation of catching a fish heightened by a leaping trout, or in my case a the crashing of a huge carp in a reed fringed lake.It is most gratifying to read that this image re-awoken those moments for you too.Sincere Thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback, very much appreciated! Not Here 93 Posted April 30, 2013 I find this to be very much like a fine painting, and though I can't pretend to be an art connoisseur I can only describe it as very Asian. Beautiful... Mike (the other Mike) ;-) Link to comment
rekaras 0 Posted May 1, 2013 Beautifully seen and executed. The bit of greenish brown along the shore, especially along the left adds a bit of color depth that enhances the image. Thank you for your recent comment by the way, best regards, rek. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted May 1, 2013 Despite the weather conditions Alf, this series of captures to be most Peaceful and soothing. The many accolades are well deserved. Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted May 2, 2013 I must admit "Asian" isn't something that I would have thought of when viewing this. But then I know where it was and how cold it felt : - )But I do like your interepretation, I'm now looking at it with new eyes!Sincere Thanks & Best Regards Alf RICHARD Thank you for your thoughts and positive feedback. There wasn't much colour at all, but I think you have recognised the bit of subtle colour, and I have to admit it does make a difference.Best Regards Alf JAMIE Well......two heads are better than one !BR Alf GAIL It was a very peaceful morning, a touch of frost and a silent ghostly hush, interspersed occaisionaly by a busy woodpecker. Worth the travelling and loss of sleep : - )Many Thanks Gail, I appreciate your comments. Alf Link to comment
Dana C Doherty 400 Posted May 4, 2013 Alf, your work is terrific and inspires me to keep shooting. This is such a perfect blend of reality meeting dreams...at some moments clear and real and the next vague and compelling me toward the parts where the fog is thickest. It is as if I am drawn deeper hoping the mist will part if I stare longer. Simply gorgeous. Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted May 4, 2013 Things change, so do moods, thankfully : - ) Alf DANA Many Thanks for your observations and thoughtful feedback, very much appreciated. It was quite mesmerising standing on the banks of the lake at dawn and just watching the changes taking place, the light and shifting mist as it rose from the water and moved like a chorus of ghosts over a silken surface, the trees momentarily peering at me then vanishing again before my eyes, it is most gratifying to read that you shared that kind of view.Best Regards Alf Link to comment
krpradu 125 Posted May 7, 2013 Is indeed a series that delight the eyes with a splendid large view,I like the mood sent by this composition, excellent idea for this format,I have nothing to say than admire your work and looking this with pleasure. Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted May 8, 2013 Sincere Thanks for your thoughtful comments! I cropped to the pano shape as a result of the top and bottom space being fairly devoid of detail, though I am thinking that I might try this again with slightly more space allowed for the foreground.Best Regards Alf Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted June 15, 2013 Many Thanks for your thoughts and kind words! Best Regards Alf Link to comment
JM-Kuva 12 Posted July 5, 2013 This is another great landscape image! The fog creates almost ethereal atmosphere. I think this would look awesome in large format print. Link to comment
