This was my first time to walk down the Virgin River in the Zion NP

Narrows. Truly an amazing experience to see the sheer steepness of

these very high mountains of rock. I was just a small speck in the

grandness and massive nature of this amazing canyon. In the fall the

river is quite low, yet there were times when the aqua color of the river

becames darker which meant it was deeper, had to walk sometimes

with water to my waist. I got a late start and did not make it as far as I

would have liked. Taking pictures for the most part was done while

standing in the river, some areas of the river was wall to wall water.

Thank you in advance for your time and thoughts.

Sherry, this is a splendid and unique place I think.I like how you chosen this point of view from the middle of the stream and low enough to have an open image over all this canyon.Rocks texture and color, also fall signs makes this composition very attractive,is nice untouched and clean,is a beauty nature corner. My compliments to you for this shot and effort for this experience.

Compositionally, very strong with the rock border in the left foreground and the very low pov. The blurred water with its beautiful blue color and the narrowing perspective leading to the fall foliage in the background makes this a winner. Excellent work Sherry!

The low perspective and slow shutter speed combine to give the impression of being right there amongst stones and pebbles of that ethereal place. The little touches of autumnal colour and rock textures add a great deal to the mix. Well worth getting wet for!

Outstanding!  7

Wow you have some very nice shots. I too was very much impressed by the narrows but did not get the chance to go as far on this trip. You've shown how worthwhile it is.

Two questions-

With tripod ? I'd guess so.

Did you wear waders ? That water is quite cold !!

My best

Michael

You've received some lovely comments and they are so well deserved!!! Your POV is excellent - makes me feel I am playing in the stream in the shallow water, such a beautiful location, you time spent here yielded some lovely images Sherry.

Wish to thank Radu, Robert, Alf and Gail for your thoughts overall and about the low angle and POV as this was very much on my mind. I tried several angles and this won out in my selection of photos taken in this area.

Thank you Michael, yes I did use a tripod, I rented the wet pants, socks and shoes and of course a strong walking stick as the bottom is pretty rocky although there were spots where the was this amazing beautiful very find sand. The wet wet pants kept me pretty dry and protected form the cold of the water, I was told the water temp was 48 degrees.

Thank you Anis, hope your hike in the Narrows was great as mine.

I think you've made a very nice job of this.

The colours seem quite natural and the composition very good.

Well done on a fine image!

This is one of the best photos I have seen of this amazing place. I like everything about it. The view is perfect, so much detail and interest for my eyes to follow from front to back. The water color and clarity is lovely but the kicker is that you have the foliage proudly showing off the autumn colors.  I like that you shared your story about your visit too.  My compliments Sherry.

Warm regards, Pamela

Beautiful shots. It's even more enjoyable if you're one of those who has trekked this part of the park.  That water was cold in the summer!

You have caught the soul or spirit of Zion Narrows.  I think the water must be very cold.  Best Regards,
