The fish was large enough that several attempts to take off were

needed. The two fishermen who had caught nothing in 4 hours were

mightily displeased with the bird.

Great timing to actually see it catch the trout.  The larger version really shows off the photo.  Well done, Steve.

A monster fish to boot........... totally wasted on the Osprey that would strip its immediate needs and let the rest go to waste..... Hmnnnnnn

Hopefully the fisherman changed to dry-fly fishing?

Magic capture though......... well done

This has got to be one of the most amazing shots I have EVER seen of a bird of prey with a fish! The lighting, clarity and detail are exceptional! This is truly AWESOME Steve

I love the way the side lighting is playing on the flanks of the bird and fish alike, it adds that final touch to what is an extraodinary capture!

Superb!

Best Regards

'A bit of a struggle' indeed! This bird has full flaps deployed, every feather straining to obtain lift.  Great capture!  A bit tightly cropped but that's a minor nit to an otherwise excellent shot and probably an easy Photoshop cure if one was so inclined.  To my eye your framing of the shot of the pelican is closer to ideal but then there was likely not as much fast action going on in that one.  Always a treat to see your latest.  Best, LM.

Hi everybody. Thanks for the kind comments.

Len, I agree that a little more space would be nice but this was some pretty close action and there was very little to work with.  Had I been using the 500 I would have clipped the wings.
