An interpretation of the poem by W.B. Yeats, "A Song of Wandering Aengus."

I went out to the hazel wood,

Because a fire was in my head,

And cut and peeled a hazel wand,

And hooked a berry to a thread;

And when white moths were on the wing,

And moth-like stars were flickering out,

I dropped the berry in a stream

And caught a little silver trout.

When I had laid it on the floor

I went to blow the fire a-flame,

But something rustled on the floor,

And someone called me by my name:

It had become a glimmering girl

With apple blossom in her hair

Who called me by my name and ran

And faded through the brightening air.

Though I am old with wandering

Through hollow lands and hilly lands,

I will find out where she has gone,

And kiss her lips and take her hands;

And walk among long dappled grass,

And pluck till time and times are done,

The silver apples of the moon,

The golden apples of the sun.

Would love any input!!

I love the poem and your interpretation of it through your photograph, the willowy "glimmering girl" looks suitably ethereal and nymph like. I like the star lit beam of light too it adds that element of fairy magic, but I would err on the side of caution in its use and respectfully suggest that in this case "less is more"
My only other concern is the lack of foreground and the abrupt cut off just below the girls leg / dress, a bit moore room here would frame the image so much better.

Suffice to say a most enjoyable image to view and a great concept.

Best Regards

like your image very much,  after having read alfs critique, i think our opinions on this image are very similar.  really love the expression on models face.  really great concept along with nice presentation.

Thanks very much for your comments and suggestions! I agree with you about the frame, I like the negative space but the lack of foreground does make it feel a little "cut off" at the bottom. As far as the magic, that was tricky for me because it's hard to tell what is "less," if you know what I mean. I do understand where you're coming from though, because too much would push the image towards corny, and I definitely don't want to go in that direction!

Again, thanks so much for the critique, I always appreciate anything that will help me grow!

All the best,

Nicole
