quasifoto 0 Posted September 22, 2012 I liked the early earth look to this rock formation and surroundings. Thanks for looking! Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted September 22, 2012 Something very primeval about this image. Really terrific composition and exposure too. At first I wondered if this might make a decent black and white, and it might; but I honestly think it is more powerful with the hint of color (e.g., the water, and stains on the volcanic rock. Really is an extraordinarily powerful photograph. Cheers! Chris Link to comment
quasifoto 0 Posted September 22, 2012 Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments Chris! I did try it in B&W, but did like it better with color. I really liked this scene and it was shot a 300mm to get the comp. Best Regards ~ Gary Link to comment
sketch_tbhotmail.com 11 Posted September 22, 2012 I think Chris' analysis of this is spot on, there really is a sense of power in this photo. Your choice of 300mm was great, the compression makes the channel awe inspiring. Its hard to describe the emotional response but its easy to imagine standing there being there staring up at the cliffs towering overhead. Its pretty funny but there's a real sense of danger depicted, enough so that when I was looking at it, I could almost feel the adrenaline rush. Not too often that a photo can evoke that in me. I would be interested in seeing a contrasty black and white. Anyway, kudos man. Link to comment
quasifoto 0 Posted September 23, 2012 Thank you so much for your kind words and comments! That really means a lot to me. I was very excited to see this scene and wanted the spire to be as large and looming as I could get it while still including its surroundings. Thanks again and best regards ~ Gary Link to comment
