ffrank 0 Posted July 15, 2012 I'm glad you rescued this from the reject folder Alf. It would have been a shame to throw out such a great image. The deep blacks and blues contrasted with the beautiful warmth of the fading light along with a single, simple silhouette all come together very nicely.Fred Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted July 15, 2012 Many thanks for your enthusiastic response, much appreciated!Best Regards Alf BENI agree it does add an extra touch, of course the best part about the "people" on this particular beach, is that they are cast iron statues and not subject to movement. Many Thanks & Best Regards Alf HOLA JOAQUINMuchas gracais por su interes y atinados comentariosSaludos Cordiales Alf FREDSincere Thanks for your interest and thoughtful comments. I seem to remember when I first processed the images from this particular evening, they didn't need any added vibrancy or saturation, in fact when I recall looking at the screen on the back of the camera I was surprised at the colours. It was a spectacular sunset, but i think the long exposures capitalised on the colours.Best Regards Alf Link to comment
hamidfarzandian 0 Posted July 16, 2012 An eye-catching brilliant shot! Composing in such a way with dark blue at lower part, rather bright warm upper portion and a lone statue at golden point in between, all made a powerful framing, as well as a very apt natural vignetting, drawing all the focus and attention to the center. Quality and details are awesome. An excellent shot for me, and a seven for sure.. Bravo.Hamid. Link to comment
swede621 0 Posted July 16, 2012 Hello again Alf,Been awhile but I couldn't stay away (long story). I just wish that my "best" shots were as good as your rejects. Love the colors and contrast. Maybe it is only me since no one else commented on it: but the first thing that caught my eye (excluding the man) was the curve of the edge of the water. Reminded me of those high altitude shots that show the curvature of the earth - like he was standing on the edge of space. In any case IMO this is another great shot.Cheers... Jerry Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted July 20, 2012 Sincere Thanks for your thoughtful and encouraging comments. This was quite an exceptional colour show, the best of it as here when the sun had gone down. If you ever get to visit the UK Hamid, try and get to see these statues, they are not too far from where I live, I'd be glad to show them to you. They really are a photographers dream when the conditions are right. I'm glad you liked this one!Best Regards Alf JERRYGreat to hear from you! I do hope you are keeping well. I do look at your page now and again in hope of seeing new postings, but no sign of any for a while. It was always interesting to see your continued improvements so I hope you will post again soon.I know what you mean about the curve of the water it does look as you describe or almost as it has a slight fish eye effect. This is no man though, it is in fact a solid cast iron statue, made in the image of its creator the great artist, Anthony Gormley, along with another 100 or so identical ones that are placed here on Crosby Shore, Merseyside the location now named "Another Place" they are fascinating to look at and photograph.Sincere thanks for your astute and thoughtful observations Jerry, much appreciated! BelaMolnar 2 Posted August 8, 2012 I generally don't like human present, or main subject in landscape, a few exception, but this is different, it making the image. Cheers. Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted August 8, 2012 I know exactly what you mean. For years I would go to great lengths to avoid getting humans in my shots, and I still do to a great extent. But there are times when human interest can make a difference. This "human" figure was in fact an Iron Statue, but it has the same relevance. Many Thanks for your thoughts and kind words.Best Regards Alf Link to comment
