alfbailey 4 Posted June 20, 2012 This is a most unusal flower shot, it looks like something out of this world and I mean that in a very positive way. It has very different elements than the usual soft mellow flower images that I see. The spikey thorn like stems add a menacing element to the otherwise placid looking flower, the softer backdrop is a nice contrast too. I also like the diagonal arrangement. Very well done Sarah!Best Regards Alf Link to comment
sarah_mcnulty 5 Posted June 20, 2012 Hi Alf. Nice to hear from you and glad you liked this! This is a practice shot from my new lens - Canon 17-85mm. Have been trying out the macro function, think i still have a way to go to get the results that I would like as the light that it lets in tends to be a little flatter than my other lens - practice, practice, practice! Will pop over to your portfolio and see what you've been up to. Best wishes. Sarah. Link to comment

hstelljes 41 Posted June 20, 2012 Hello Sarah, I like this very much. The subject is very clear with sharp detail, but I love the blur going out from there. Nice colors as well. Good work.Sincerely,Holger Link to comment
cycler48 8 Posted June 20, 2012 That's quite an interesting flower and you've done well in capturing its beauty. Good focus and light and you did a wonderful job at blurring the background. Nicely done. Enjoy your new lens. I own the same one and like it a lot. Link to comment

sarah_mcnulty 5 Posted June 21, 2012 PATSY, HOLGER, MARK & ROGER. Thanks for your thoughts on this. This lens is a bit more technical to use but that's all the fun of trying to improve with photography! Pleased you all felt I'm on the right track. All the best. Sarah. Link to comment
sarah_mcnulty 5 Posted June 25, 2012 Thanks Jamie - Strange and weird but true - very minimal photoshop with this! Still got a ways to go with it yet! All the best. Sarah. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted July 3, 2012 the Bokeh is just lovely in this captuer Sarah and your detais are very good. A beautiful and very unusual, I've seen them before. I can see what you feel you need to go a bit 'further' with it. I am just questioning in my mind just what to do. The colours seem to need to be a tad deeper (tonea) yet you do not want to mess up your Bokeh. While it is lovely as is, I am sure you will figure it out. You do very nice work! Warmest regards, Gail Link to comment
sarah_mcnulty 5 Posted July 4, 2012 Thanks Gail for your thoughts. I really like the Bokeh too but I think light on flower may be a bit too flat, for me I would like the flower to be more delicate. I have some similar shots so will have a play and see what they come out like! Best wishes. Sarah Link to comment
