I was just in time at the location to take this photo. The next one,

the sun was already behind the clouds.

One hour before this sunset, the sky was completely covered by clouds

so I didn't even bother. 40 minutes before sunset, the sky started to

clear and the sky became all red.

I grabbed my backpack, my camera is always with me, got into my car

and drove 15km to this place. On the way I was almost sure I will miss

it. I took 3-4 pictures from the car, just to remind me how was the

sky in case I don't get to the lake in time :).

Let me know what do you think about this photo.

Thanks,

Daniel

Wonderful sky colours and I really like the way the warm reflections make the silhouetted uprights stand out. The little jetty and the boat address the balance on the left of the image. You might want to straighten the horizon, thought this is but a minor point. Very well done!

Hi Alf,

Thank you for your comment. The horizon is 0.7degrees tilted. I could try to straighten, but I don't know if it's worth to loose some of quality by re-compressing the photo for a small tilt.

Is it that visible?

Thanks,

Daniel

Wonderful color and light to capture the mood of this scene Daniel. The composition is beautifully balanced, and I like how there is still enough light in the fore to pick up the dock and pilings to give depth. I can't really see the tilt Alf mentioned and I'm usually pretty fussy about that, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you Michael. The composition is a bit by chance. I didn't had the long tripod with me, since I wasn't planing to go and take long exposure photos, so I had to find a place to hang the small gorilla tripod.

I was a bit worry about the fence in the foreground when I took the shot, but since the sun was going down really fast, I took it. I think the fence in the foreground is dark enough not to spoil the composition.

Well worth the drive and effort Daniel! I like the composition and you have captured the moment well.

As for the horizon? I would straighten it but that is my personal preference.

Best regards

Gareth.

Ok, I'm really confused here. You are not talking about the hills next to the lake on left and right on the sun line?

The "horizon" line, or the straight line should be the water line, or am I wrong?

The land that you see in this photo is not leveled. All around the lake are small hills with irregular heights.

If I measure the line of the water, the line is only 0.7 degrees tilted towards right. That shouldn't be an issue though. Write?

Hi Daniel,  Beautiful capture, love the strong orange and blues. I think you could straighen your horizon and not loose to much of the scene. Beautiful capture,  Best reagards      Sherry

Hi Daniel, you are correct about the water line it is 0.7 deg out. As I said it is down to personal taste, this is such a stunning image that I think it worth straightening.

Hope you don't mind me tweaking it a little.

Best regards

Gareth.

Thank you.

During summer, last year at least, I couldn't see this colors on the sky and I was looking at the sky almost every day. During winter the sky is quite nice around the sea.
