hans11664883765 0 Posted May 14, 2011 Indeed it almost looks like three separate scenes. If they are, very well done creating a shift in perspective like that.If not, great composition! Link to comment
kani 0 Posted May 14, 2011 Hans, there is only one exposure here. ISO 200 F/22 1/13 sec. Link to comment
ffrank 0 Posted May 14, 2011 I love the composition you have put together here Kani. The colorful bush in the foreground and the sharp rocks pointing up to the sky with the balloon looking down on it all just all comes together for a great shot. Very nicely done.Fred Link to comment

Jeff Lear 0 Posted May 14, 2011 The composition is about as ideal as one could ever hope to achieve. Everything leads or points to your subject and even those leading, pointing elements have great texture and interest. I especially like the distant peak immediately below the balloon basket. I also admire your treatment of the sky which has nice detail and contrast but doesn't appear fake or over-processed.But then I get to the balloon, which appears flat and hidden in murky shadows. The subdued but rich colors in the foreground disappear and I have difficulty finding interest in the balloon, it's almost a distraction to what would be an otherwise outstanding landscape photograph. I wonder if you've tried adding a little vibrance to the balloon in post?Obviously, you weren't in control of the lighting. I wish they made a fill-flash for situations like this ;) I just took a second look at this and wonder if you used a GND or applied one in post? Link to comment
gaule 0 Posted May 14, 2011 It's a great vantage point to display the unique scenery of Cappadocia. Even without the baloon, the scene has all it needs to captivate. Link to comment
kani 0 Posted May 14, 2011 Jeff, your thought about the balloon was also an important point for me while making the photo. In the beginning the sky was full of balloons. That was very chaotic because I had to cut many times some parts of the balloons since their whole body were not always in the frame or they were overlapping. Therefore, I did wait and try to shoot when the sky gets calmer. My plan was to make photo when they gas the balloon. Because the gas creates wonderful light in the balloon and brings out the colours of the balloon. It did happen only once in my frame and it was on the right side of the sky. I use 17/40 mm lens and on these areas the lens creates an important deformation. The photos I made with the balloons on these areas don't look ok for me. Therfore, I did wait for the balloon to come in the middle of the frame to avoid the deformation while praying for the pilot to gas the balloon there. It didn't happen unfortunately. I made the photo. On that moment I was not happy with the result I get. But, on the other side, my aim was not only to make the photo of the balloon. In front of me there was a wonderful natural formation and that was the main reason I was there. The light coming from my left side was soft and illuminating the foreground and the middleground. There was a good depth I did get with all the elements from foreground to background. I thought they are more important than the light in the balloon. Of course the light in it could change the whole photo but... I did try few things in PS but it doesn't help a lot. Also, I don't like to change my photos with PS manipulations. I think Luminosity and Saturation masks are the highest points to manipulate the photo for me at this time.I did use 2 stop soft edge nd grad filter for this photo.Thank you again Jeff and all for your time to add your thoughts here. I appreciate them... Link to comment

lalit 0 Posted May 17, 2011 I quite agree with Jeff and how beautiful composition this is. Bit of dodging of the balloon and adding vibrancy could help. Link to comment
