Sorry to inundate you all with children photos, sort of my subject as of

late :D - wish I had my flash off camera here, but was taken in haste,

anyway, hadnt been on in a while and im back :D

the flash works nicely here. Maybe you could clone a bit the reflection above his head, but it's not that disturbing. There aren't any hash shadows so the light is good.

I find a bit distracting the piece of cloth in the upper right.

Other than this very nice moment you captured!

Ellery,

For me, this is a real natural capture. The background is often typical of a baby's messy room. The inquisitive expression is also typical of a baby's journey into the unknown.

Great shot.

Mike

Daniel...man thats a good point about the flash reflection...now that I look at the photo and recall, I did have flash off camera hand held, just off there a bit to my left....a small soft box would have worked oh so perfect to kill all that spill and reflection....I lost my little cheapo soft box (eerrr), now im wanting another one for handholding my flash for candids....I may try going back to work on the blanket, it does attract attention a bit for sure...thanks Mike for the complement, indeed technical details aside I obviously love the snapshot :D - not that I am bias or anything :D

Great composition  / perspective between the back of the chair. Sharp expressive and well defined image, the splayed fingers are a great finishing touch too!

Best Regards

Fabulous image - keep up the very good work. Love the light here and of course the expression. In between the fatigue periods, place the 'keepers' in a separate folder and just before Christmas, make a couple of photo books and or 12 image calendars. I know a grandmother who looks forward to that yearly special calendar. This would be one for the book or that calendar.
