I see its not a simple composite to simply examine your capabilities of digital alteration, but it has a strong story, expressing firstly in the face and smile of the old monk, as well as the ancient monastery at the far back. Very impressive arwork. Bravo.

Pierre, this is interesting. It has an eerie feeling for me. I feel like I am looking at a ghost. I don't think that was your intent though. I like it. It is beautifully composed and balanced.

Clever composition, excellent my friend .. reminiscent of Mount Athos, though the little Byzantine church is in reality to be found in Plaka .. : -) ..

I wonder why John Peri comments on yours and never on mines...

Enlighten me, please !

John is a "go to follow" to me. Aaah ! Why ?!

So many babes, so little time...

Can you ?!

Thanks !

One of your best abstracts dear friend! A monk from Agio Oros? The stone and the church in the background give a perfect sense of spirituality and faith. Excellent and inspiring processing!

All the best

I could swear he is a Greek monk, ( or at least a Balkan !)

Again I think we lose the essence by focusing to technicalities. The important here is the point of interest, the smiling face of this weathered ascetic monk who is forcing a smile in front of your camera. If you cover with your hand the area underneath the eyes  you will notice that his eyes DO NOT SMILE like a heartfelt smile obliges them to !

Hence it is a friendly, obliging gesture to a kind photographer , but not a genuine , heartfelt laugh , AND HOW COULD IT BE ONE ?

It is not supposed so, a life of ascetism dries the juices of life in a peculiar way. So, in my opinion , the important point in this documentory ( i see it as a documentory) is the reserved , self-restricted, solemn smile he decided to grand you with. The scheme he wears , his obvious kindness and the  wrinkles of a mature life impose his appearance to the "click" that immortalised him. The little iconostasis in a form of a chapel is not so Byzantine , so I change my initial guess about the monk's origins, I leave it to your kind descretion - or should I have a better look to the photo description details?

      Kind regards, Pierre!

My initial statement was presumptuous and I apologize, it was just from memory. The church is not the one in Plaka, but the Byzantine influence may well be present  ..
