I stepped out of the car and walked about 100 yards before I noticed the

still water and reflections of the trees on the lake, and so decided to

stop and take a couple of shots. I later skipped past these shots when

browsing the file, then later revisiting the file again my finger paused over

the delete button.......and I thought hmmm this looks like it has

potential. The blue /white part far right is a fine covering of frost and

snow in an area where the sun never manages to touch. Your thoughts

and comments are always appreciated. Thank You.

The color strikes me first with all those great pastels flowing into one another.  This reminds me of Ferdinand Hodler's landscapes.  The trees look like umbrellas with bony little figures beneath them.  A lovely piece all the way around.

I'm glad you didn't delete this classic Alf! Simple, elegant, and superbly composed. The beautiful colors and that splendid reflection don't hurt hurt either! Well done Alf!

All the best,
Neil

I'm glad you exercised self control with the delete button, Alf.  I really like this image; the colors and light are great.  The trees are quite stately and work as a major compositional element in the image, especially with their excellent reflections. The more iridescent green gives the image a bit of a surreal look that I like.  Also, a major plus here is the elimination of any sky.  Thanks for posting this, Alf.  Perhaps, it will help usher in Spring.  Best regards.

Effective composition and wonderful colors. The eyes follow the line of the pines and land on the frosted meadow like an arrow on a target. The sunlit slopes provide a neat progression of fine hues and an ascending rhythm that so well interplays with the descending one of the pines. And then, all this gets reflected in the lake. To cut it short - I like it.

Indeed the colors do strike and the exposure is so well balanced, the DOF is amazing and so the details are so fine, the reflections are phenomenal and adding a great credit to the well thought off composition.

Thank you for sharing it and wishing you all of the best.

A truly impressive landscape capture indeed Alf, I think we all must be so much alike when it comes to photography, its a bit like dayshvoo, take care Alf...

There is a thick liquid quality to the green leaves, not just in the water, that gives such a fun texture like an oil painting merged into the photographic scene.  The reflections and small ripples are inviting like a magical world underneath.

You obviously live in Heaven and it's not fair! I am happy your finger lingered and paused before hitting delete and that you saw the potential in this one! Beautiful scene...reflections, colors. Lovely work! Thank you for sharing. :)

I guess that you keep placing the bar higher for yourself, Alf -- but I'm happy that you kept this one as well..!  I too like the overall composition, the reflections and the umbrella shapes of these trees. The greens, blues, and slightly turquoise colors work particularly well against the pale BG and its water reflection. I wonder if a tiny crop (2mm) of the left (the hint of branches of the next tree) would possibly benefit the composition even more, but am not quite sure, and very much like it as is too. Congrats, Alf, another fine photo.

Delectable pearlised and opalized effect of the beautiful mix of colors. Chimerical play of lines and patterns. Thank you for pausing over the delete button, for doing such a masterful job rendering this incredible gem and sharing it with us.

This is a very delicate landscape. The colors and details are very subdued as in winter but the treetops and BG are keeping some green colors of hope for spring. It is a  very nice perspective. The transparent water and  BG is a very nice slopped reflections.

...and in less than four days!

Quite an image.  I thought you must have used a Photoshop filter to achieve the washed look, but it seems not - it's just the bright light.  And perhaps a little overexposure causing desaturation??  Cool and beautiful.  Bravo.

It must be deleted for sure! ( just kidding ;-)) ); Amazing panoramic crop of a far eye-catching landscape scene, bold for its calmness, coldness, balance, equilibrium, awesome sharpness and depth. I'm not sure about prominent blue green hue all over the scene, specially over far right frost, as you cited, being completely natural and being as you witnessed. As just a humble suggestion, you may accentuate warm tones over the left slop to inject and impart a sunny part, as apposed to cooler right part. Its a very negligible note on an already perfect gold winner, if you dont mind! Congratulations and thanks for sharing.

Hamid.
