South Central Illinois

GBarrington

This is a crop, not a stitch. The Exif data has gotten scrambled, somehow so I'm not 100% certain of the capture date. About 10 miles east of Alton, Illinois.

I like the pano shape of the composition but more the overall mood of the winter farmland scene. Although I'm not familiar with the area, I sense that this image gives a good impression of this agricultural location.

Very nicely done!

Thank you for your kind words.  I find the prairie states to be very dramatic in nature.  And SO MANY photographers overlook them in favor of mountains, and beaches, and gritty street scenes and such.  I'm not sure why.

I've heard the prairie described as the Serengeti of North America.  I wonder if African photographers feel contempt for THEIR prairies.

I get bored by the many images of sunsets, or beautiful places that seem so trite. It takes photographic talent to find the beauty in the more mundane settings. I know this ground well and you have done a fine job of capturing it and presenting it in a very enchanting manner. I must admit to a fault in that I'm very fond of panoramas, so that may color my judgement here. One of my favorite museums is the National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC. While is certainly has portraits of the famous, it is really a portrait of the nation. This image would be at home in that museum. Looking at this image I cannot tell if it was taken in 1840, 1940 or this last year. The timeless quality is wonderful. Congratulations on a job well done.
