Several things make this image stands out. The DOF is perfect, the bird and the fish are very sharp, the fish is exactly in the right spot (rules of third), and the blood coming out of the fish is a nice extra.

Great shot Monte although I can't imagine that the fish is very happy  ;) Very good color and clarity, the presentation is perfection. I don't shoot birds, have given it a half hearted try and can respect the patience and precision it takes to get an awesome image such as this one..... Truly you have much talent and I do so enjoy your photos!

I really like this shot.Im torn between the sharp details even in the wing tips and the slightly distracting background and harsh sun (not to harsh) in the old days I would give this a 6.5.
