Jim...  40 views at this point, but no comments.  A strange place we inhabit here.

This is great.  When I see this I can hear and feel the frost crunch underfoot and feel the moist cold air.  The sign does add colorful interest, but an excellent shot regardless... Mike

This attracted me because I was going to upload a similar picture today. I didn't. Snow does make things we wouldn't normally notice stand out. I like it.

The little sign, like a warm oasis in a freezing desert. Very well placed in the frame drawing the viewers eyes up the road and round the bend into the misty depths. Very authentic frosty morning mood Jim. We are just starting to get really frosty mornings and some snow in the UK, so I can appreciate this scene all the more.

Best Regards

Alf

Michael, David and Alf,

Thank you for your supportive comments.  As the road continues there is a covered bridge undergoing repairs, there are larger signs indicating that the bridge is closed but this final small sign is just in the right place to add a dash of colour to an otherwise monochromatic image.  As I was taking this I had a notion that I might remove the sign in Photoshop, but on second thought...

Very nicely composed Jim - and accurately exposed to render the frosted vegatation just right.  The orange sign does add a strong point of interest - but I also would be tempted to remove it . . .

Best, David

Very nice composition with the curving road, Nice depth with fog. The bright red sign difficult to miss. Unique but to me distracting from the scene. Regards, ifti.

David, Iftikhar, and Bobby,

I appreciate your comments, particularly concerning the orange sign, perhaps it is a little distracting, once again this is one of those images that looks best viewed at a larger size than PN suggests.

This image has your signature, definitely: Always careful about the foreground construction of your shots and by placing some sort of points of interest in them or in the extent as in this case the red sign. Although you transmit the wintery mood perfectly, the photograph without that sign would look rather empty and would leave the viewers eye wondering through the image with nowhere to rest. Good decision to leave it in. ( Mho only, of course)Compliments!

Most has already been said about this shot and I do agree that keeping the sign in adds the little dash of colour needed to break up the white of Winter ...Regards

What a beautiful shot. It looks like a winter-like fairyland and beautifully captured. Here is what David Wisse wrote" "..... The orange sign does add a strong point of interest - but I also would be tempted to remove it . . ." and I can identify with that. And yet, as Keith says, It breaks the overall winter white. I am apologize for not adding value to the other comments.

All the best,
