Alf...  Well, I've watched this one for a couple days trying to decide just what my take is on it.  Certainly my initial reaction was and remains positive but I wanted to see if anyone else would comment on the bright foreground.  It distracts slightly, but after looking at other suggestions and since I don't have a firm alternative.... I'm going to say leave it as is.  Beautiful detail and rich evening colors.  A well done seascape... Mike

I fully agree with your analogy, it is a bit of a head scratcher to know what to do with it. I have to be honest, it's one of those shots, I like it, then I don't. The bright foreground you mention could be the reason, it's a bit plain and unexciting, but is wholly represented of what was there, but then the image gets a whole lot better when you probe it's depths. a magical morning... so serene and peaceful...such a wonderful soft light... extremely pleasing subtle shades... this would look great blown up and displayed on a wall... i have only one doubt and that's about the compositional balance... playing around with it on my comp i liked it best as a 16:9 crop as i've uploaded... not better than what you have produced but perhaps an option worth considering... i've additionally given the mid-section a little more pop using the clarity tool and slightly deepended the magentas and purples

Now the Tourism Board would definitely be interested in this one.  Very pleasant mood.  Great tone and colors as always. How did you get the clouds to line up that way?  The clouds and their reflection make nice leading lines.

It is probably not what you saw or envisioned for this image but here is my spin on it using Nik Capture v1.3 software.

And for what it is worth, this image is exactly the same as what I posted previously except that I changed the color space to SRGB.

I quite like the crop, I didn't think it would work clipping the clouds quite so close but it does. I'm not quite as keen on the colour saturation, but then I think thats just a matter of taste. But it's interesting to see different options. Thanks again Rajat.

I think the clouds could be the result of an early morning aircraft vapour trail that was slowly dispersing in the sky, it was quite faint and I didn't even notice it at first, but once I seen it I tried to get it to frame the shot by capturing the reflection too.

Hello Alf, This is really a fine scene and I think much better when viewed larger. Now I have not read every single remark regarding this photo, BECAUSE THERE ARE ALWAYS SO MANY, but I just wanted to say it seemed a little to blue for me. I love the reflections and the sky above and its reflection below, and you know I say this with all due respect. Just my two cents. Take care.

This shot has an interesting tranquil mood but, though the skies are interesting and beautifully reflected in the water, the stones in the front forming a kind of horizontal constellation somehow fail to lead the eye into the picture.

Of course all this is very subjective.

The stones though interesting to some degree in themselves, don't serve to form any leading line or pattern. A few larger rocks would have been ideal, and they are usually in abundance on the shores of this particular lake......but not this time, and not this place.

Wow!  I love the crisp, sharp lines of the masts contrasted against the soft character of the sky and the water.  This photograph makes a bold statement by its understated character.

Hi Alf! I love the pink and blue tones in this scene. Very crisp and clear. Would have loved something in the foreground, or perhaps a boat nearer as a primary focal point. However  it still works well as it is. Well done for a fine and beautiful scene. Best wishes.... JB
