alfbailey 3 Posted November 13, 2010 I've been in two minds if I should post this for a while, it just didn't look like anything in small format, so I've made this one so you can click to view large. Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated. Thank You. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted November 13, 2010 Super work. The larger version really allows the photo to open up all its goodies in terms of detail and color. I love how the feathery clouds frame the scene above and below. Link to comment
johnroberts 0 Posted November 13, 2010 I agree Alf, you get the full impact from the large version with all the detail from the boats and the background. Lovely serene landscape with the whispy clouds and their reflections.Regards........John Link to comment

papasan 0 Posted November 14, 2010 Hi Alf, i know what you mean, it happens to me a lot, i look at an image I took and i try to decide what it is that i like and dislike about it. This is a good image but i find that the mood and light are just "in-between", the sky is great with the striped clouds, but they dont come out through the image with much impact. I would consider a different crop, maybe cut a little from the bottom, and apply a level adjustment layer to darken the top and bottom and keep the central darker area as it is. I played with this idea and came up with the attached. What i did is duplicate the background layer, and changed the blending mode to multiply, then i applied a gradient filter in the central part only. This seems to bring out the light on the boats, and give the sky and the reflection a little more impact. I also cropped the bottom a little. This is a quick and dirty and you may not like it but it is meant to show you an alternative, not a better image just different. Regards always - michel Link to comment
tonyfrench 0 Posted November 14, 2010 Alf, a beautiful image. I love all the soft colors and the absolute stillness of the water as they really represents the quietest time of day, just before everything starts coming alive. Link to comment

hamidfarzandian 0 Posted November 14, 2010 Very great scene, very exceptional flawless composition and nice sharpness. I just suggest more contrast and brightness as atachment. Its just a suggestion and not necessarily better. My best regards.Hamid. Link to comment

Thanks for the visit and the positive feedback Harry.Best RegardsAlfDONNAThanks for looking in Donna, I'm really pleased you liked it. Any chance of seeing more of your drawing work in the not to distant future? : - )Cheers DonnaAlfMICHELMany thanks for your visit and kind words. Your suggestions are interesting, and I like your crop. Your processing however isn't to my taste in this particular image. The image I tried to portray was one of subtle shades and tones, with perhaps a slightly more definitive tonal range amongst the boats. Whilst you have darkened the image for more dramatic effect, it has also served to increase the saturation to a level where I think the imageloses it's original atmosphere. But yes definately different. Thanks again Michel your critiques are always an education.Best RegardsAlfTONYSincere thanks for your visit and positive feedback. I'm really pleased that the still quiet atmosphere was apparent in the image, you summed it up very well.Best WishesAlfRUUD Many thanks for your visit and kind words, much appreciated.Best RegardsAlfBOBBYI hope you are keeping well. Thank you for your thoughts and comments, much appreiated!Kind RegardsAlfPEDROMany thanks for your interest and positive comments, I'm really pleased you liked it.Best RegardsAlfHAMIDSincere Thanks for your comments and in depth critique, I realy appreciate your time and interest. I quite like the sky colour you have produced in your version, but again I find that the colours on the boats appear a bit too over saturated, and loses it's original subtle flavour. But a worthy attempt to do something different with it. Thank you.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment

JimCowan 0 Posted November 15, 2010 Again this is one of those images that looks terrific full size on your monitor but when posted to PN it tends to requires a little more from the viewer. Personally I liked this even before enlarging. The light here is amazing with the range of tones and the cloud pattern repeated top and bottom which tends to effectively draw attention towards the middle of your photo. This is very nice!Jim Link to comment

I liked it, but as you say it's appeal wouldn't be instantly apparent to everyone.Sincere thanks for your thoughts and positive feedback Jim, much appreciated!Kind RegardsAlf Link to comment

elportebonheur 0 Posted November 17, 2010 Has to seen and digested enlarged...Compared to many others of your excellent scapes this one has a certain 'lightness' generated by the synergy of pastel colors, the filigree clouds and the reflections - letting the whole scene float...'seascape light' - perfect!
