Many thanks for your interest and vote of confidence. I did partake of a few large ones later.......not the traditional amber nectar from around these parts, I over indulged of that particular tipple at a very tender age, an experience thankfully never repeated. : - )  But a few pints of Grolsch went down well.

Best Regards

SARAH

Sincere Thanks for your visit and positive feedback, much appreciated. The best part about shooting in dull lighting such as this, is that the even flat tones are easy to control and the contrast and colours can be accentuated later whilst processing.

Cheers Sarah!

KEITH

Sincere Thanks for your visit and positive feedback. I agree mist is a great element to add mood to an image, I think the hard part is finding the right balance between visibility and mystery.

Cheers Mate!

Many thanks for your thoughts and kind words, the weather was pretty much like this the whole time we were there, suffice to say I've got lots of moody shots : - )

Cheers John!

Sincere Thanks for your interest and positive feedback. I see what you mean about the greenish cast, I think perhaps a coller tone selectively applied as you suggeste would have the desired effect. I really appreciate the advice.

GRANT

Many thanks for your interest and kind words. Mixed blessings perhaps, whilst the scenery is very beautiful, the perpetual rain can be a bit of a nightmare at times. But ...given a choice between sunshine in the city and a rainy day in the countryside....I'd prefer to get wet : - )

Cheers Grant!

I love these types of shots and this one is no exception. the low lying cloud and the mostly green trees are the elements that appeal to me the most. I also like the shades and shape of the mountain on the right side.  fabulous image.

Hello Alf,

I don't believe that the Tourism Office will be interested in publishing this.  Doesn't exactly make me feel "warm and fuzzy".  It is a great photo though.  Incredibly dank and dark mood which I'm sure you were going for.  IMO you got it right regarding exposure.  If you brighten it up it will lose its mood.  Did you consider using a polarized filter?  I thought perhaps that might provide more detail to the forground water.  Of course all of this is just my opinion.

Cheers...

Many thanks for your interest and positive feedback. It was drizzling with rain most of the day, and we took what photo's we could from the cover of umbrella's. But even though the weather was what most people would consider as terrible, the landscape in this part of the world still looked incredibly beautiful. The polarisor suggestion is a good one Jerry, it's something I usually consider, but in this case I probably didn't because of the cloud, but in hindsight maybe I should have. I am going to post another image shortly from this location, but from a much higher perspective, and using a slightly different WB for the mist. Thanks again Jerry

You wouldn't be dissapointed if you get to visit. we had three days of rain, mist and drizzle but the place still maintained it's rugged beauty.

Many thanks for your visit and posiitve feedback Raymond

Wow, another beautiful shot Alf.  My Mom's side of the family is from Scotland.  Although there is only really her left, I am sure if my parent's ever had the opportunity, she would have loved to see Scotland.  I have had it on my dream list, along with England where my Dad's family comes from.  He has always wanted to visit there. I have seen many movies with Scotland as the country of 'filming' - Braveheart one, I loved the commentary where Mel Gibson tells the story of each and every character, the locations where they shot each scene.  This is truly a magical place.

This image is hauntingly beautiful to me. Even though your visit was all in drizzle, I imagine there are times when it comes as an advantage in landscape shots.  The mist certainly is a great factor in this image and it's impressive compositio.  Love your work Alf.  Thankyou for sharing, Gail

Sincere thanks for stopping by and for all your encouragement, so very much appreciated.

One thing I know Gail, is that if you ever manage to visit Scotland, you won't be dissapointed. Even if I wasn't a landscape photographer, it would be difficult not to gasp at the sheer rugged beauty of the place. I can't speak highly enough about it. And you have the added incentive to do some family research too.

You are right about misty drizzly days, there are times when they can be a positive advantage, when seeking a moody atmospheric kind of scene, or a mystic magical kind of element.

I can't wait to go back there, and I will, hopefully in October or November.

Thanks again Gail

Sincere Thanks for your thoughts and kind words, much appreciated!

It was a strange day, rain one minute, then wind, then mist. Move a couple of miles and it would change again.

The couple of hours we spent at Loch Sheil I really enjoyed.  Though my personal favourite was the one called  "Loch Sheil Longing" where I took the shot facing the opposite direction to this one.

Hi Alf, Love it, my kind of image, misty & slightly hiding the landscape, you can almost feel the chill seeping into your bones. With images like this you stop & somehow feel compelled to linger & absorb the beauty of the scene & are reluctant to leave.. Expect you have finished your Christmas dinner & are full & satisfied, we have a couple of hours yet & the kids are just arriving. Best Regards-Rioss

It was wall to wall water, rain rain rain and then more rain. But in between we managed to get a few shots.  The images remain with me of this sodden landscape, looking beautiful no matter what the elements dictated.

I guess you will have finished dinner now and be snoozing by the fire!  : - )

I hope you have a lovely day my friend, and wish you all well for 2013

Best Regards

The misty "eye" revealed the little island then closed again just as quickly and nothing could be seen but the veil of mist.  I can thoroughly recommend "Loch Sheil" as a place for a visit.

Many Thanks for your interest and kind words!

Best Regards
