Is the competition this week for the worst Photo of the Week for all time?

In any case, this is much better as a puzzle than as a photograph--and not because it is a nude. From artistic conception to what looks like a band-aid on the foot, I am trying but finding little to recommend this one.

I really like this picture for its composition, pose, and elegant B/W rendering. It reminds me of the Pilobolus Dance Theatre featured in the FORD Human Car commercial:

WTF? I see that the photo of the week has been truncated to the photo of the day. A testament to the power a single nipple can have to send all of us hurtling toward church. If it was not so cowardly it would be funny. I can only cope with one potw per week so I will comment on this one and take a pass on church.

I agree with Landrum only in as much as that the area of the girls ankle is a bit unsightly. Given the velvet skin rendering of the rest of the body parts the rough and lighter toned area draws too much attention.

In an effort to come up with something new in studio nudes I note a trend toward stranger and more contorted poses as time goes by. I swear that being a contortionist must be a prerequisite these days for modeling. Many of these human pretzel poses look so unnatural and uncomfortable that they are hard to look at or take seriously. Despite the amount of stretching and twisting needed to make this photo work, it succeeds in feeling natural. I like that the pose is used to create a visual puzzle. The dual pose is clever, well thought out and well executed. This sort of super smooth and clean studio rendering is not my cup of tea, however this one rises slightly above due to the concept. Even if it is not an original concept, it is at least, a less unoriginal idea than most.

In the lame ass world of potw this was an almost daring ( if momentary ) choice so hats off for almost growing a pair.

So this is the week of mysteries maybe. Rapid fire POW's, implausible views and your choice, heaven or hell--well, I suppose that could go either way as well.

This image is fun in its own way but maybe not as elegant as it might have been. Actually, I find it hard to figure out where to start and maybe that is the point, it is just a lot going on and it isn't very organized. These sorts of images are difficult to create where it doesn't at once feel more like some commercial shot versus an artistic one, sort of where does it cross into being a bit of a gimmick. (I am not referring to the car links here at all).

I suppose I could nit pick things like the 5th foot , on top right sticking out below the knee, being the only limb to lose the sense of some attachment and thus begging the question....... The toe(?) poking up above the thigh on the bent leg on the floor on the right side (clone it out) and of course the odd light shape that has been documented. But I think for me it is just more a feeling of lack of purpose other than the doing of it that leaves me a bit flat here. I don't feel like it asks any questions or addresses any issues. It just feels like it was done to see what could be done and thus lost or didn't even address, its potential substance..... and elegance.

I don't think it is difficult to actually figure out the process here, where the parts are coming from--even the 5th foot I mentioned earlier, but I just don't know that the image moves much beyond a fun exercise. The exposure and tonalities are nice as is the lighting--the technical aspects seem to have been well handled.

John I agree but I think it is okay for an image to be a fun exercise.

The POTW you have when you're not having a POTW...PN is such a cute place. Not sure if it was the nipple or the touch of labia (are we allowed to say that word? LOL) visible in the large version if you squint that led to it's banishment.
What I like about the image is that it seems to be moving away from the stereotypical poses that dominate this kind of shot and towards something more chaotic. I don't think it succeeds particularly well and it really just looks like a set up shot. Technically it is nice enough but the presentation lacks character and the models are boringly predictable. Overall it is fun though as John said.

How many limbs, count them. If they are an odd number, then, something is well "odd.".. I noticed the idea about trying to "up the ante" on contortions of the nude frame that you observed, Gordon. It is kind of funny and probably irresistable for a photographer of nudes. (The pileup of a party of limbs in the mud by a Ukrainian photographer you may recall did it much better.) .. This one is not offensive, and certainly not avant garde in any way, but have to say it does not grab me as anything special. No pros. No cons. Some are like that.

Class image, love tones and lighting and like all the angles the models have created with their limbs.
