alfbailey 4 Posted October 1, 2010 Liverpool is one of the few cities that can boast two cathedrals, The Liverpool Anglican cathedral professes to be the largest Christian Cathedral in the world (Though this title is often contested by The Cathedral of St John The Divine in New York) The foundation stone was laid for the building of the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral in 1904 and the first part of the work (The Lady Chapel) was completed in 1910. This, “The Lady Chapel” is the oldest part of the building and is indeed my favourite part of this huge building, it’s a brilliant place to visit, the people are so friendly and all you have to do is ask, and they will allow you to wander around freely taking photographs as much as you like. (Outside Service times of course) This HDR is a sample of the great architecture that exists inside. Unfortunately light conditions were such that outside shots looked awful, but that’s one for another visit another day. Your thoughts and comments are always very welcome. Thank You. Link to comment

niki3 3 Posted October 2, 2010 I really like the symmetry of the picture and especially the contrast between the shadows of the columns and the light at the bottom Link to comment
pfranklin 0 Posted October 2, 2010 Ahhh...nicely done! This is perfectly balanced and the color is beautiful! I think you handled the lighting conditions here expertly, it's sharp with wonderful details. I could not think of a better pov ..in fact I can not fault this at all. Thank you for sharing the history and image. Warmest regards, Pamela Link to comment

JimCowan 0 Posted October 2, 2010 A wonderfully effective HDR, but also technically subtle and restrained. Beautiful natural light with lots of detail, I can never overload on cathedral images. Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted October 3, 2010 This is absolutely beautiful Alf. I cannot imagine being in such a beautiful place of worship.....you did a lovely HDR job with this shot. It is so natural looking. I have an 'Auntie' who was born in Liverpool. She just passed a couple of years ago, but was always telling me about her beloved home. She visited quite often but found it disturbing how her home town was changing. But you can never go 'back home' and expect it to be the same. Terific detail in this shot, despite any lighting conditions. Kudos...beautiful, Gail Link to comment
dbasinger 0 Posted October 3, 2010 When we photograph things and places we have motives as unique as we are but whatever you wish for your shots you should know that they make me want to be there to experience the scene, not necessarily to photograph it but to use all my senses. Thank you for sharing this beautiful chapel. Take care, Deanna Link to comment

alfbailey 4 Posted October 3, 2010 PIERRE I think you managed to sum up this location in just three words, it really is an impressive place. Many thanks for your thoughts, very much appreciated!Kind RegardsAlfRUUD Many thanks for your visit and kind comments, much appreciated!Kind RegardsAlfPATSYSincere thanks for your visit and positive feedback, much appreciated.Kind RegardsAlfNIKIMany thanks for your thoughts and comments, I too liked the symmetrical qualities of the building, the exception to this was the light on the left that didn't appear to be working.Best RegardsAlfPAMELAAlways good to hear from you, sincere thanks for your visit and positive feedback. The pov was made possible from an elevated gallery, and the fact that the staff at the cathedral were so helpful and accomodating. This part of the cathedral is only a tiny portion of the massive structure. I will try and process another shot of the main hall when I get a chance. Cheers Pamela!Warm RegardsAlfKAUSHIKMany thanks for your visit and kind words, very much appreciatedBest RegardsAlfVADIMSincere thanks for your thoughts and positivecomments, much appreciated!Kind RegardsAlfJIMMany thanks for your kind words and positive observations. I'm really pleased that you mentioned "subtle and restrained" as thats exactly what was intended. Some subjects, I believe are more appealing with a more natural looking HDR than some of the more exaggerated looking effects.Best RegardsAlf SOMNATHThank you for your visit and kind words, much appreciated!Kind RegardsAlfTRISHASincere thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, very much appreciated. There is an air of peace and quiet contemplation within this particular cathedral that is all at once therapeutic and calming. I know you'd love the experience Trisha and hope you get the chance to visit.Warm RegardsAlfGAIL Many thanks for your kind words and positive feedback, it really is appreciated. Just standing inside this building is an experience one never forgets. I'm really pleased that you mentioned "natural looking" as this was the effect I was aiming for. Liverpool has undergone many changes in the last few years (most of them I don't agree with from an architectural standpoint) but thankfully the Cathedral remains unchanged and hopefiully will remain unchanged for future generations to come and experience.Best RegardsAlfDEANNASincere thanks for your thoughts and feedback, very much appreciated. I'm really pleased that my photo could inspire those thoughts and feelings, using your "senses" is a very appropriate description of how I reacted to this place too. It was inspiring to say the least.Warm RegardsAlfGRIGORIYMany thanks for your visit and positive feedback, very much appreciated.Kind RegardsAlfSTEVE Sincere thanks for stopping by and commenting, much appreciated.Kind RegardsAlf Link to comment

hamidfarzandian 0 Posted October 6, 2010 Very powerful composition with amazing details and very balanced light. Even its an HDR, the treatment is so natural and subtle. I agree with your horizontal framing and i personally prefer more wide angle in this situations, even if distortion become important. Very impressive shot. Bravo.Hamid. Link to comment
