Gorgeous image Alf.  Nice colors in this version.  great composition with good leading lines.  Interesting use of the industrial lights in the background to contrast with the otherwise natural setting of the lighthouse.  Maybe it's my screen but the light and reflection appear a bit too yellow. Nicely seen and captured.  Regards - michel

This is a photo taken just as the tide is rushing into the River Mersey

estuary. 2 Minutes after this shot was taken the rocks were under

water, Colour or B & W ? your thoughts and comments are always

appreciated. Thank You

I like the vibrant green vegetation on the rocks.  As well as the sweep of clouds.  The industrial facilities on the right are almost a separate subject, distinct from the solitude of the landscape you caught elsewhere. Probably a cold place I bet.  A good composition and  I like it, Alf. best, gs

Although I love B&W photography, I really prefer your colored version here. The sunset has been so exquisitely captured in your photo, that I personally think the mood conveyed by this comes through so much stronger in color.... Your pov, composition, and overall colors in your photo are great as well, Alf!

Really stunning. This is a great example of everything coming together. The colours are really beautiful. The colours are subtle and, along with the nice lines in the foreground, they really draw you in to the photo. Ty

Many thanks for your input and kind comments, a bit too yellow eh, Hmmm I tend not to alter colours as I usually mess it up and end up with green skys, but I did play with the saturation and contrast on this one. The industrial lights to the right are Liverpools Docklands, a place worthy of further exploration.....when I get time. Thanks again Michel!

Many thanks for your visit and valuable feedback, very much appreciated! I like the green rocks also, it is a very fine hair like weed that grows on the rocks and gives them this colour. The industrial lights to the right are Liverpools Docklands on the other side of The River Mersey.  Many years ago people from Liverpool would cross the Mersey on ferries to take thier holidays at New Brighton, it was a really popular resort. At the moment there is a great deal of development work being carried out, so maybe New Brighton will return to it's former glory....Personally I prefer it nice and quiet! Cheers Gerry!

Thank you so much for your valuable feedback, I don't think I've quite nailed B & W processing yet, but I will keep trying and posting the results on here for advice and critique. I'm pleased that you liked the colour version.

I'd love to say this is the result of hard work and toil, but I have to confess I loved every minute of it. Hard work is doing something you don't want to, or doing what you have to do to earn a living and have enough over to buy a new camera, or more photographic gear. I have been bitten by the photography bug, and become totally infected. Time is my enemy, I just don't have enough of it to do everything I want to photographicaly.

Many thanks for your imput and kind words Harry, much appreciated!

Alf this is just excellent. It has all of your usual good attributes and one of my favorite things and thats a lighthouse. The sky and foreground in this instance complete the picture. Again very nice work my friend.

Best Always,

HolgeP.S. I'll check out the B&W too.

I love the colors and the rather tranquil gentle waters. The greens are rich. The sunset awesome. Regards. ifti.

"Life goes on day after day, Hearts torn in every way - So ferry cross the Mersey 'cause this land's the place I love And here I stay". So thanks for bringing me an image of the place in the aforementioned lyrics to a famous song.

Fabulous composition, brilliant greens and the color balance, based on the white of the lighthouse and other areas, seems to be 'spot on'.  It must be the skies in your area that are a little different to mine as it comes off on my monitor as slightly cyan but please don't change the color balance.

The only thing I might consider changing is to clone out that slender wire in the sky leading to the lighthouse. If it is a documentary image then I would leave it in  but a client might prefer it cloned out.

Keep up the excellent work,

My vote is with the color version as well.  I enjoy the yellows and greens present.  Tidal pools, lighthouse, sunset, still water, even distant docks, what more could you ask?  A wonderful capture.

Alf...  I'm late to this party, but I'll go with the color version also.  The green moss and the very real sunset make this a stunner... Mike

This photograph has clearly your signature... you're juggling with lights and colours, shadows and reflections. Incredible dof - and the lighthouse as icing on the cake. A real seaside delicacy. Compliments Alf!

Many thanks for your visit and kind words. We share a common passion!  Lighthouses! I just love everything about them, they seem to epitomise everything that is good and right, the solid structure, the guiding light, and the quiet strength. They all seem like a fitting monument to the countless brave lifeboat men and women that have been lost to the sea. Thanks again Holger

Sincere Thanks for your feedback and kind words. The incoming tide makes these waters appear tranquil, and I guess thats what matters for the appearance of the photo. But in reality the tides and currents of the River Mersey are treacherous and have claimed numerous lives over the years. Cheers Ifti

TONY

You had me singing along with that famous "Gerry and The Pacemakers" tune.  The ferries that are referred to in the song used to be my playground as a young boy. We would pay a few pennies to go from Liverpool to New Brighton on the Ferry, but instead of getting off, we would hide and get the ride back to Liverpool free, sometimes we managed to avoid capture all day traveling back and forth, to the great frustration of the crew, who knew we were there, but just couldn't find us!, great memories!

I hear what you are saying about the wire, I didn't clone it out as I was rushing the processing a bit with these last couple of images, but its easilly remedied as you say. The really strange thing is, that the wires have only appeared on the lighthouse during the last few weeks, they never used to be there at all. The lighthouse is not in operation any more, but now I'm wondering if they are planning to illuminate it in some way, hence the wire.  My sincere thanks for your comments and thoughts on this one Tony.

Many thanks for your visit and kind words, most of my processing is done in "Lightroom"  these days with just a few ajustments to contrast and sharpening in Photoshop.

The color version gets my vote Alf! While each has it's own appeal the blend of greens, blues, and yellows in this image really gets my attention. Beautifully done!

All the best,
Neil
