Beautiful composition and colors. The staircase looks abstract. Where did all the colored lights come from?

I saw this go by on the home page and I had to comment.  What a stunning image.  The composition is love, as others have already told you.  I just can't get over the colors. Well done. It is surreal.

I really like the colours. In particular the lovely lovat green at the bottom and the two reds at the centre and at first flight. The lack of helical regularity is slightly disconcerting. Is that a lens problem or an architectural problem? My favourite part is seeing the underside of the steps, mainly in the top-centre. Also, the lovely colour-gradations in the centre-left (ie the start of the stairs), from white to yellow and then ... pink? Rose? Well done to the photographer. The lighting shows that it was not an easy photo to take.
