I remember holidays like that! : - ) ......The central composition and framing works really well here, and the downcast eyes of the child serve to accentuate the mood of the image.

nicely done. well composed and good use of natural framing. In this version (B&W) I would only add that perhaps more surrounding space (as in less cropping) would help establish a stronger composition by bringing more of the hedge into the frame in order to establish context between your subject and his surroundings (imho)
