sunshinekolasinski 0 Posted February 13, 2010 or Burr to the brits. A couple I know actually makes artwork (bowls etc. out of these.) google it! Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted February 13, 2010 Sunshine, thank you for the definition ! I have seen these deformities many times, but did not know the English name for it. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted February 13, 2010 Awesome color palette, and outstanding tonal quality, screams "medium format"... Do you have a vertical crop, also ? Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted February 13, 2010 Thank you, Carsten, nice to see you around again. I had a bit difficulty shooting this "burl" because the 67II shutter creates a lot of vibrations not damped by the tripod I am using. With the 200 mm lens, exposures between 1/60 and 1/2 are quite unsharp. I attached a polarizer and stopped down the lens to f/32, prolonging exposure to 2 seconds and making the DOF deeper. I attach the vertical shot, not as sharp as this one. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted February 13, 2010 Thanks for the other version. Sharpness is not noticeably different, in the small upload size. Sharp enough, probably. I am undecided now. God strike me dead, now I think about a square :-) Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted February 13, 2010 :-) everything is fine, perhaps except this... Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted April 9, 2010 Lovely shot. I encountered many burls on my trip last fall on the Alaska highway. This is a wonderful image. On my screen it is showing up with a magenta (blue-red) bias - I hope my screen is not in need of calibration - anyhow I have adjusted the color balance by removing blue - would be interested in knowing how it looks on your screen. PS Carsten - we don't want God to knock you down - I want to continue seeing your images for a long time. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted April 9, 2010 Even though the reality is what you presented, I see a 'twisted possibility' - just ideas - no claim that one is better than the others. Best regards, Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted April 9, 2010 Thank you, Tony. I left the image as Velvia "saw" it, i liked the color palette. The reality may be somewhat different, I shall revisit to check, this burl is in a nearby park. Your screen probably does not need calibration... Link to comment
