3m 0 Posted February 6, 2010 Hi Wieslaw, I very much love your minimalist approach here. The two poles at the bottom seem to create an anchor point, and connect with the lone skier -- It gives it a very nice depth, but without losing the feeling of "infinity"... Really, very nicely done! andrea-de-bonis 6 Posted February 6, 2010 wieslaw, i arrive alwais after marjoleine and i just have to agree with their words. and i hope the winter will not finish soon there (this comes in my fav, anyway) Link to comment
wieslawmamon 0 Posted February 7, 2010 Linda - thank you for your visit and appreciation. Drew - glad you let me know, thank you for your support. Marjolein – the two poles are parts of garbage bins on a small beach at Lake Zywieckie in southern Poland which in summer months gets a bit crowded with holidaymakers and local people who are keen on sunbathing and water sports, at this time of year everything is covered with a layer of snow as you see, and on the frozen lake one can only spot a little figures of anglers and, ocassionally, … lone skiers:-} Andrea – the place is about 10km from my place, today the temperature is 7 C below zero so the winter doesn't seem to give up, at least for the time being. Warm regards to you all then:-} Link to comment
vetterhome1 0 Posted February 7, 2010 Great as it is. If we think that a kind of rotation axis is at the left, than also that will be a version ? BR Joerg Link to comment
celasun 0 Posted February 7, 2010 I liked the implied connections and the quiet beauty of this.Jörg's suggestion is an intriguing one, by the way... Link to comment
wieslawmamon 0 Posted February 8, 2010 Guillermo – thanks for taking interest in this shot. Jorg – I enjoy the way you read the scene, the two circles in the bottom left looked a bit like a symbol of infinity which gave me the idea for the title, it's great how your interpretation develops the idea making the skier nearly rotate on one of the orbits somewhere in the infinite universe:-}. Thank you for your time. Bulent – glad you use the word 'quiet' in your comment, thanks for sharing your impression about this image. Giuseppe – nice to hear you like it, thank you for your visit. Best regards. Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted February 8, 2010 it's been done so often it has become almost an cliche. But you've succeeded in creating a photo that has just that little bit more that lifts it way above the normal cliche. Those two stands in the foreground create just the right balance for this photo. Great Wieslaw. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 9, 2010 Not living in a snow culture I like the wide grey round forms spaceing between the two black points. The two poles on the lower L diagonaly leading the viewer's eye to the man sliding in the far R horizon. It is less which depicts more, with minimal means, the snow culture. Beautiful composition. wieslawmamon 0 Posted February 14, 2010 thank you for sharing your comments. Ton - agree with you all the way, this sort of minimalist winter composition is certainly not a new idea, all the more I'm so glad you find this little extra that makes the scene speak to you. Pnina – being used to snowy winters I sometimes forget they are only limited to some parts of the world which you nicely call 'snow culture' :-}. Always interesting to read how you see this composition. Best regards to you both. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 14, 2010 Fantastic, a minimalist line drawing that's come to life. You've always had an extraordinary eye for the inventive and compelling composition and this is another fine example. The way you have delineated space in this picture is great. Link to comment

wieslawmamon 0 Posted February 15, 2010 thank you for your visits and comments. Jack - one of the great things about photography for me is the element of unpredictability what you'll 'discover' on your camera trip. Here, the view of the lines had already been a little bit of a surprise but when I saw the skier coming up I could hardly believe my eyes:-} Mircea - glad you also like the title:-} My best regards to you.
