What came into my mind, when I saw that: Would like to sit in the Dizengoff street and drink a coffee with him. Looks so open minded - and lots of words could run over the table.

Thank you for looking and commenting. I and the photo surprised him. I have never seen his kind of apparatus attached to a hand gun.

Meir, I was also surprised by the elaborate holder for the gun. I'm imaging that someone it's disconnected from the belt and the bar holds it steady. Can't imagine. He looks very gentle -- also like someone I would know -- guess he's off duty? Phallic capture here. A lovely portrait though.

Why phallic? The appartus has frame like a rifle stock. It can be held/used like a rife for accuracy. No he is not off duty. This is a muslim neighborhood. There are a some Jewish families living here and their homes are guarded. Thank you for commenting.

Brings thoughts of fear and terror!! As a cuban I am always aware of people that live in constant fear!!! Strong image my friend. In Psy Gun is a phallic symbol as is the car. Warm regards.

Excellent portraiture. One could watch it for long and talk a lot about it. The posing, the gesture, the dream in the eyes, the key position of that fire-arm (that in strong contrast to what it symbolizes can bring only death and no life...).

Couldn't that firearm bring life in the form of protecting people against an act of terrorism?

Donna, is that it is not the same to prevent destruction of a work of art by destroying another and being capable to create a new one. A gun can only kill, it is it's sole purpose. And unfortunately this fact is totally independent of the final goal it is supposed to serve.

I (and I presume Meir too, though I can not speak for him) had no intention to any political allusion, but only pointed out that a gun as a phallic symbol contains a fundamental contradiction.

The phallic thought was Donna's. I am not that clever. Correct; the photo is not political.

I don't think there is much I can add about the photo itself, great capture and a very interesting subject.

 

Another possibility on the weapon. The handgun is a Glock and if it is a Model 18 then it is capable of full auto fire, a machine pistol. With the detachable shoulder stock affixed it becomes more like a sub-machine gun.
