pnital 36 Posted October 21, 2009 A bit late but better than not...this is a beauty ! composition of lights very well timed and composed. The girl is very well placed on the frame. As usual your explanation brings us the viewers to understand part of the Indian culture. Thanks Amal, I join your blessings and bless you in return. Let the lights flow ,overcome the darkness as in this one.;-)) Link to comment

LenMarriott 9 Posted October 21, 2009 " ...triumph of good over evil..." Better light some more lamps. :-) I agree with Pnina, a fine composition no doubt improved by your crop. This is a good technique actually. Get the shot any way you can if you don't have time to crop in the camera, then fine tune it later. You've done well to spread the lamps quite evenly throughout the dark spaces within the frame. I don't need a special occasion to wish you happiness but if there's a festival to do it then why not take advantage of it. Happy Deepavali, and thanks for broadening my horizons. Best, LM. GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted November 26, 2009 I am very sorry I missed this one....I don't think I had my computer totally up and running at the time of it's posting. I have so much catching up to do! But just had to tell you that I loved the 'history' behind this celebration, as well as the image Amal.....I wish you also....a world blessed by light rather than darkness.....that good will prevail over evil.....we can only, pray, and hope, and believe in faith.... Thankyou for sharing this image.....sincerely, Gail Link to comment

gungajim 75 Posted November 27, 2009 This photograph reminds that last year I was in Nepal during Diwali last year and saw many colorful displays. I admire the extreme patience the worshippers exhibit in placing the grains of sand. The capture of the women is remarkable not only for the contorted position of her body but also for the way the light exposes her front side while blending her posterior into the realm of darkness. Cheers, Link to comment
