gminish 0 Posted July 24, 2009 This has good potential with the clouds seeming to eminate from the mountain peak but the sky is way too over processed for my tastes. The contrast is too severe causing some of the sky to be almost black which isn't too likely on a bright sunny day. You also didn't apply the contrast very smoothly or uniformly as there is a very obvious dividing line where the contrast stops and the more natural sky (directly above the mountain) takes over. You can also see where the contrast was essentially 'painted' around the cloud formations. I think a more subtly exagerated version would be much more pleasing. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 24, 2009 For me the sky works well. Nice contrast between the calm foreground and the dramatic sky. Overall well done! Link to comment
davidbaldwin 0 Posted July 25, 2009 nice photo, nice eye, but i agree with gary, needs a little more attention to details when using gradients. i still like it though! there is definitely something happening here. Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted July 26, 2009 A potentially magnificent capture! I have to agree with Gary though, sometimes "less is more" to coin a phrase. Try reworking the original image and losing that distracting divison. Kind Regards Alf Link to comment
raymondklassphotography 0 Posted July 27, 2009 Overall I enjoy the image - it has a very nice balance and movement with the clouds. However, I would also have to agree with others that the sky seems a bit over-processed for me. It's not how dark the blue sky is, but rather it is how concentrated the darkness is. I agree that the darkness helps the clouds stand out, but the sky seems to get very light directly around the darkness - I might try some masking in Photoshop to just touch this up. Overall a great catch. Link to comment
