First of all I say, congrastiolation to the photographer having his photo on the first page.

The image background is so beautiful and having that mirage effect , the foreground specailly the in compelte stairs is not much of a great interest although it is the main viewing spot in this image, the sun is too hot big circule and I would liked it to be cooler with more details and intenral colors.
All of the best .

Yes, a beautiful shot. What I like about it is the fact that a winter scene is so warmly lighted, making for an interesting contrast. That said, even when viewed at the larger setting, the sharpening artifacts...especially along the railings...are very evident, and really more or less spoil the overall look of the image for me.

The warm tones of the lighting provide a unique feel to what otherwise would be a cold picture. I particularly like the bold black of the hand rail against the white background, it captures your attention and then you find the smaller "framed" picture w/in a picture, inside the hand rail. Beautifully done!

I'm very honored to see my photo selected.and strangely I was at the same place this saturday to take some early morning photos in the cold.
Thanks all for your great and constructive comments.
For the sharpening I agree that I have over sharpened this small version.
The lens flare are not completly avoided, if you look closely there is one just at the intersection of the railing.

Effectivement Luc, quel honneur. Je t'en félicite, d'autant plus que la photo est superbe. Continue à prendre de superbe photo et de nous les faire partager. Bravo.

One of my biggest complaints regarding digital photographs when the sun is included in the photo is the abrupt tonal transitions in the vicinity of the sun. Some people seem to be able to avoid it, but most can't, including myself. Here, it's not too bad. The sun is rendered as a very large and very bright white disk surrounded by a whitish-gold haze that would be expected given its low position in the sky. I'm not sure if film would have looked any different or any better in this case. Other than this possible non-topic, I do like the overall composition with the building and railing set against the snow-covered field, distant trees, and low sun. It's a nice contrast of elements, and they're presented in an aesthetically pleasing way.

I agree with the comments about the sun. However, I still enjoy this shot very much. The thing I like best is that I thought this picture was taken in the summer time until I looked closer. It was a pleasant surprise.
