Funtak 0 Posted February 9, 2009 I like it, it is superb image Pnina. I would give it some more space at the top side, she look somehow captured... Link to comment
celasun 0 Posted February 9, 2009 If I were to use a single word for this photo, I would choose "rich". The veil does move in front of my eyes and resembles somehow a cloud of thoughts encircling her head... Link to comment

drewmurphy 0 Posted February 10, 2009 Pnina, this has such a magnificent feel to it. The slower shutter and the soft motion bring an almost ethereal emotion when viewing. Very nicely done. Link to comment

bob_belanger 1 Posted February 10, 2009 The dark tones, veil and slow shutter speed work very nice in this shot. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted February 10, 2009 I must agree, you used the correct shutter speed to allow the feeling of motion to come through. Your dark subject with a minimum of detail makes this one rather sombre & moody. The horizontal crop was appropriate though I feel the crop at the top is a bit too tight. I would sacrifice a bit at the bottom for a corresponding bit at the top to satisfy this minor nit. Best, LM. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 10, 2009 Thanks to all of you, I very much appreciate your impressions and point of view. Vladimir and Len, both of you mentioned the upper narrow crop. I appreciate your expressing your point of view ! It is important. Vladimir you wrote that she looks "captured". Len, you wrote that she looks "somber and moody" Both of you were right ! I see it in two ways Photographically your point has merit it is tightly cropped . On the other hand cropping tightly was my intention here , because I wanted to emphasis her wish to release herself from her veil. It is connected to other works in this series, like: "A Metaphor of the Thin Border of Existence" and like "Life as a dance ....Plight" and especially this one which is called...."Association.....". All of them are metaphors to the women's condition in some cultures. "Tear" according to the dictionary has two meanings, a tear while crying, and tearing the veil covering women faces ( again wide connotation) . I hope it explained my intention, thanks for your nits that helped me to clear it up. Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted February 10, 2009 a very thoughtful piece Pnina. i especially like the ambiguity of the title having more than one meaning. it seems so well suited to a veil which adds mystery to anything it covers. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted February 11, 2009 My first thought was that this was a beautiful moth struggling under the burden of her own wings, her black body enshrouded and her gauzy wings fluttering violently. A fantastic piece, instantly a favorite. Link to comment
joe-tury 0 Posted February 11, 2009 Blind beauty. Very delicate and seems to be searching for....something. Link to comment
lizweisiger 0 Posted February 11, 2009 Beautifully captured, Pnina. I see this dancer as showing emotional agony and panic. Very dynamic image. Link to comment
myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted February 11, 2009 Well Pnia, You do dancers and I do guns and we both do our "thing" well edit -but dancers get better ratings.. Link to comment

michaellinder 16,612 Posted February 12, 2009 Another masterpiece . . . The darker tonal range conveys a "darker" mood, which doesn't necessarily have to be associated with sadness. I view it as expressing the subject's attempt to find beauty and meaning in seriousness. That comes from her head being bowed. As with your other photographs of this genre, the flowing veil successfully conveys the subject's movements. My compliments, as always, on some really inspirational work . . ., michael (And, by the way, I appreciate your comments on my B&W. I'll play with that shot some more.) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 12, 2009 At first glance, I imagined this was two dancers, a nude dancer behind a clothed one. Even though it is one, you have managed nicely to separate the two aspects, the lighter, more angelic, with the darker, more somber. The movement of the veil and in the hands and bodies is very well done. I don't get the feeling she is breaking free or wishing to break free from the claustrophobia, rather I feel her constrained by it. Especially because the dominant figure is looking downward, she doesn't speak to me of release. I do think, however, that the beautiful highlighting moves toward that feeling of breakthrough.
