Very nice of you to point out that this ain't just any bird, but a PARTICULAR bird we know. Somehow adds to the force and urgency of the image. On the larger version, the head of the heron is seen dangling below the branch, a fitting epitaph to the transformation from a vibrant life to an item on the menu. Link to comment
