morophaenixmau 27 Posted July 20, 2008 Dear friends, after two weeks spent in Trentino and Alto Adige ( one of the best mountain place in Italy, not only for mountain landscapes but also for history, art, culture and gastronomy…), I’m happy to return to you for sharing its images through my photos. During my travels, not only in Italy, I have always with me the guides of Touring Club (…the Italian Travellers Club, on e of the best in the world,…without nationalism!...), and, like usual, I have a big wonder in seeing like a small Italian region has a guide vast as another whole nation! I have the complete collection of Italy, Europe and of all Mediterranean countries: well, you must know that the books of Italy are most…solid than all that of the other books of the other nations put together. Believe me, my friends, I’m not a nationalist person, I love all our world and I think that we, Italian women and men, have the great charge to preserve and get better our treasures also for you, people lovers of beauty, art, culture and,…why not,…gastronomy! But, unfortunately, it’s not easy!...Imagine, please, what can say,…to eat…lobster, caviar with champagne every day for a whole life!...I want say Italian people, unfortunately, has a terrible disease:…the “consuetude”… for art ,beauty, culture and history!...We are too much rich for knowing it! My first image is an interpretation of mine of “Maria Dolens”, the biggest ringing bell in the world: it was built after the First World War with the bronze of the cannons of all the belligerent nations. There is no bell tower enough for it!...These are the bell’s dimension: height 3.36 m., diameter 3.21 m., weight 23.639 tonnes! It’s located on a vast terracing on the mountains of Rovereto, a small but very old and historical little town of the Trentino. The Rovereto’s monumental bell, tolls every evening at nightfall (…100 dongs…), in the hope that Man, in memory of the Fallen of every war and every nation in the world, may find the path that leads to Peace!...Ciaomau! maria75 0 Posted July 21, 2008 Interesting and unusual presentation of a bell. Great clarity, beautiful tones. I like how you reveal inner symbolism of a common object! Link to comment
sallycd 0 Posted July 21, 2008 The clouds made the bell interesting fro me and the detailed architecture. Link to comment
