juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted July 18, 2008 what a freakin great moment...If you did not ask her to pose...which I think you didn't...what fantastic moment...the tones and composition jezz kick butt...I like how the ledge that she is sitting on does a MC Escher thing when it gets past where she sits...Perfect...juan Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted July 19, 2008 I was going to comment on your ability to find the precise moment to take a picture (moment and place) but I see Juan has beaten me to it. I couldn't imagine encountering such an empty promenade in Osaka. Also, I'm indebted to Juan for pointing out the amazing disappearing ledge. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted July 19, 2008 Such a well-composed image. You've placed the protagonist perfectly in the scene such that she feels wholly contained and balanced amidst all the lines of the corridor. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted July 19, 2008 Very nice DOF Ton, entering in by the figure and from her till the vanising point. great angle, and timing. The vast DOF accentuates her lonliness in this vast space. Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted July 20, 2008 Juan, thanks; indeed this is not posed, it wouldn't have worked if it had been. I like your Escher reference ;-) Jack, thanks for such a nice compliment. I can imagine Osaka being a much more crowded place. This is too but I took it on a early Sunday morning which helped a lot and as you know no one faires well without a certain amount of luck. Thanks Jeff, I'm a big fan of modern architecture but those guys in the past sure knew what they where doing as well. It makes for great photo opportunities Thanks Pnina. It was a great find and a dead giveaway. Link to comment

Matt Laur 2,201 Posted July 20, 2008 Tremendous, Ton. The quality of the light on the windows and the surrounding metalwork is really the final touch for me. As everyone else says, timing and composition are superb. It's always nice to go traveling with you! Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted July 22, 2008 Thanks Matt. Going out hunting with you isn't boring either ;-) Actually I feel rather fortunate that I'm able to get to so many interesting places Link to comment

jbidarra 0 Posted July 25, 2008 Great image. Interesting sense of depth and scale and a good composition. The placement of the girl inside the frame is perfect. The very smoth light and the perfect bw conversion and resulting beautiful tones of grey make me like this image very much. Regards. Link to comment
