My friends' son, Joan, 2 and a half years old. What do you think of

the picture as a portrait?. Thanks in advance.

Don't you just love XP-2 for portraits? My only nitpick is the cut-off head, otherwise its a good pose and composition with just the right amount of DOF.

I like it. Good choice of DOF and framing. I'd have preferred the eyes to be in sharpest focus. Bold choice of background (the lit ground) and you exposed and printed well enough to ensure that the tonality is subtly different from that of the boy's face.

this is a lovely shot. An honest(not posed)look on his face. The only thing I would do is burn the bright area to his right. Not much but some. Definitely a keeper.

The face could use some burning to bring out detail

Good facial expression and general posture.

Good framing, though I would have made a point to keep all of his head in the frame.

 

Perhaps a more neutral background is in order. The shadowy bits stand out too much.

Real nice portrait. If that was my boy, this one would go on a wall somewhere. Great shot.
