atlatling 4 Posted January 12, 2009 A nice diagonal composition and wonderful colors. I cannot think of any way to improve on this image -- not even cropping really. The bottom actually could be cropped away up to the point where the breaking wave intersects with the extreme right side. That would change the image slightly, and some might find it more pleasing, but it's change for change sake to do that. It is a most interesting abstract picture.Willie the Cropper Link to comment

nomade 1 Posted January 13, 2009 Just great. Althought we know it was probably digitally color altered, it was done subtly enough in order not to distract. We can say it's not that far from the real, original in-camera captured image. The diagonal composition was the right compositional choice; the aperture was low enough to convey the sense of movement, but not too much to loose much of the shape of the wave.I'm starting to do this kind of shots, so a swept to your folder was very instructing and inspirational. Guest Guest Posted January 13, 2009 Perfect shutter speed and exposure. It looks almost like an abstract painting. Link to comment
katherinemichael 0 Posted January 13, 2009 At first glance, the color drew me to look at this photo. Then, after looking at it for a minute, I didn't care for the colors anymore. For some reason, the way the colors are blending in the wave crest at the top left of the photo is unattractive to me. I do like the composition and the blur on the water. The way the PP is making the blurred movement of the water have crisp edges is interesting. On a personal level, I can't decide if I like that aspect or not. On a technical level, I think that it is well done and the treatment makes a more interesting image of what could be a boring, overdone subject. I would be interested in some details about how it was done. I'm nosey like that. :) Overall it is a well executed photo. Katherine Link to comment
KenPapai 37 Posted January 13, 2009 The diaganol composition is trivial -- especially with a 600mm lens. What's excellent is you took the time to capture this (at sunset?) and use a slow shutter speed to blur the wave crests. Excellent. This would look really nice 11x14 or larger framed and in a good space in a living room. Link to comment
kbstella 0 Posted January 13, 2009 The photo has wonderful impact. I too am interested in the color effect you used. You really captured an interesting moment and thanks for sharing the shutter and A with us, it worked out really well for this subject. This image blurs the boundary between photography and abstract art, which I think is fabulous. Link to comment
