I love the idea of this shot, but the lines really need be completely horizontal. The slight skew is distracting. Really cool.

Such beautiful color here! Plus, the white washed look of the bench adds character. Very nice image! And I think your lines are fine.

Many thanks for the very kind comments,

I hope no one objects but I've uploaded a reprocessed version with slightly crisper horizontals, although similar in all other respects. Many thanks again,

Hi Adam,

good question and thanks for stopping by.

I generally stitch two images when I want to get a square image with a higher resolution than if I'd cropped a single frame. In this instance where there is minimal fine detail (or where the success of the image doesn't depend on fine detail) a stitch creates more problems than it solves. One of the reasons I stitched this particular image is simply because I am in the habit of doing so; I find it annoying to compose extra wide just so that I can then crop on a single frame. Ultimately I would like to own a 6x6 medium format camera to use for square compositions and keep my DSLR for rectangular shots just as it was 'intended'.

Edit: just wanted to add i've just visted your portfolio and you have some fantastic square format images of your own which i presume are cropped. they are beautiful: cropping a single frame is obviously a good way to go!

thanks again,

Ben
