If these were three of your favorite restaurants, would you like the

arrangement?

These are three of New Orleans' oldest traditional Creole restaurants

with Antoines being the oldest single family owned restaurant in the

country established in 1840.

Is it to sterile a presentation?

Thanks,

Kirk

I love the images, and making a tryptich out of them makes sense...the heavy black border may be a bit distracting from the interesting historical feel, and architecture you've captured. perhaps a very thin charcoal grey/or black filet, then a larger white border, or all white...If I saw these in a gallery, i would actually buy them.

very nice work..love the mood you captured. lauren partida

Thanks Lauren for the comments and the matter that you brought up about the borders has been my most challenging problem. Actually, all of the versions I created originally had one form or another of a thin grey or black and one version even a double thin line.

I showed those to 5 friends, artists & photographers, and only one liked the thin border which was actually a drop shadow. The other four said the thin lines with the white matting was distracting because the images have so many thin vertical and horizontal lines.

One of them suggested a black mat and after creating this version, the other three agreed they liked it more because it isolated the images better.

When I look at it, I think the dark around the white border makes them look like old polaroid prints and even like I'm looking througha window.

Thanks for your input Lauren, now its 2 out of 6 like the white.

Hi again Kirk:

Yes, I see your dilemna.

thanks for the input in my portfolio-very kind of you..but I've only been taking pictures for a month, and have so much to learn-especially want to get better technically...but all with time.

Well, another thought in the big pot of ideas you've been given (doesn't it just drive you nuts-so many opinions? and all different, of course).

There is a border in Corel photoshop either under frames or borders, that looks very vintage..and they use it again under time machine...daguerrotype(spelling is wrong, I'm sure), but it's very appropriate to the period...it's thin, but has some etched detail...it's silverish, tarnished looking, and 1910-1930's...that might be cool...lauren

Hi Kirk! I have been studying this now for a couple days, have been coming back to it. Just to see if I feel the same way when I first set eyes on it. I really like your layout and framing, you have done well to balance these three

shots of history well. A keeper and a great exhibit to part of New Orleans History. Nice job... Andrea

As well as your great ability, one reason I love to visit your portfolio is to get my New Orleans fix! This sure brings back memories for me, not only due to the subject, but because of the retro feel of the shots. When dating teenagers my husband and I loved to go to Tujagues....loved the simple boiled beef with horseradish sauce! Great work!
