sonneland 0 Posted November 13, 2007 Scott, a lot of folks do this flower and for some reason most over saturate it. This is just really superb. Well done!! Link to comment
alberta_pizzolato 21 Posted November 14, 2007 Equipment, Scott. D200? What lens? Filter? Thanks Link to comment
srr 0 Posted November 14, 2007 Alberta - yes, D200, with Nikon 105mm macro lens. Probably also had Canon 500D close-up filter atached, but probably did not need it for this distance. Also probably had a circular polarizer. The real trick with these flowers up close is pretty small aperature. In this case it was f/11 (ISO 200 1/20 sec). So I was probably a couple of feet back. I've gone down to f/36 for tight shots to get the whole thing focused. Last, obviously the whites are also tricky. I tyr not to overexpose them. Since this was shaded, I was able to get a good range. No sat has been added. Hope this helps! Link to comment
alberta_pizzolato 21 Posted November 14, 2007 Oh yeah. Now all I have to do is look up "aperature" and the f-thingie and I'll be good to go :) Really, thanks for all the info. Of course it helps! Cheers - Link to comment
kurt2006 0 Posted November 16, 2007 Scott, great shot. These flowers are particularly fascinating and are marvels of nature. They are like something from science fiction rather than reality. I am surprised f/11 did the job. There is so much depth and complexity to capture, and you succeeded. Cheers. Link to comment
