Guest Guest Posted May 23, 2006 Chris K this is natural photo, no glue, no tricks, only ant and I with my camera! Link to comment
kolaczan 0 Posted May 23, 2006 I'll take your word for it even though it really looks like it (right where the abdomen touches the surface). I prefer to think that photos are not heavily manipulated and that photographers are reasonably ethical. Sorry, I didn't want to be overly critical or anything. Excellent capture. Not an easy subject. p.s. many of the photos in your portfolio are absolutely amazing. Link to comment
myrmecos 0 Posted May 24, 2006 Ants of the genus Formica (like the one shown here) often strike this pose when they are feeling defensive. It's a very natural position.Nice shot, I'd spend some time cloning out the dust specks, though. Link to comment
kolaczan 0 Posted May 24, 2006 I wasn't so worried about the position. I suspected that this is defensive. It was just the "material" or illusion of such between the ant and the surface it is sitting on. I'm perfectly willing to believe that it is just that, an illusion. Maybe I'm just seeing something that isn't there. Link to comment
