wally_hess1
I'm looking for advice regarding wireless microphones. I purchased a Sony WCS-000 wireless system that operates on the 9000mhz frequency, and has a decent range. My problem with it is a random clicking sound more frequent when I move about. It sound like it has a loose connection or something, but it it brand new. I tested another unit at a local camera sore with similar results, which now makes me suspect that this type of system has an inherent problem with random noise (it's not static or interference as far as I can tell). Is anyone familiar with this type of problem? If so, what can I do? I know there are other, more expensive systems out there, and am willing to consider them if I knew for sure that the clicking sound would not be there. beerbrain_ronny_perry
Always use fresh,, quality brand alkaline batteries.Weak batteries will create all kinds of noise problems, Also make sure you arent in the path of anything blocking the signals and that no cordless phones are nearby, they can create alot of intereference with the 900mhz system. If you have a wind screen for the mic,if you put it on the mic it will cut down on voice pops,, when people speak directly into the mic , when they look down.Sometime the levels from the mic to the camera dont match or the output is too hot coming off the mic,if the signal is too hot and you are shooting digital, it could clip the audio off after zero level, the camera maybe clipping the signal off and on. j.w.
Consumer-grade wireless mikes will almost always have noise and other audio quality issues. The 900 mhz band is crowded with lots of users. Which is why the "pro's" use systems like Lektrosonics, which have digital encoding and other noise-reduction schemes.

At our residental area, we are getting good reception from 200-300 feet.
