david_tolcher
I have just done my first weekends serious nature photography with the D100 using RAW and have approx 100 images to review. With slides I would do a quick sort on the light box followed by a final sort on the projector. Shooting JPEG allowed some amount of quick preview by running slideshow or equivalent but I am struggling for a quick evaluation of NEFs. The pain of having to sharpen each one to see what is in focus or not as the image is always soft out of the camera will not be sustainable with a long shoot and several hundred pictures to review. Has anyone got any suggestions as to how to overcome the issue ? Many thanks Dave
olivier_reichenbach
You can use a slideshow in Nikon View, making sure the option «File information» is checked in the option window (or you're in the «File» window), and make a note of each keeper. Of course, it takes a while for each Nef file to be processed, but I don't think it would take any longer than to observe a slide on a lightbox with a loupe, and then fine tune your selection with a projector. Or you can make a batch conversion of all your files, provided you want to apply the sames settings to all of them (it'll take about 20 minutes for 100 files), and then select the keepeers with a slideshow of the resulting Tiff files.
