anirban_sett
Hi,I recently had a new PC with Norton Antivirus . I can't seem to get access to most of the photo.net pages(especially the articles from the home page) even when : Cookies are allowed in NortonPrivacy is set to low in IE6.0 and photo.net is one of the sites where all cookies will be allowed in IE6. Can anyone tell me what other changes I have to make to these (and any other) settings to get proper display for all the pages ? Thanks
bobatkins
Get rid of Norton. Norton Internet Security 2003 is buggy and Norton will not fix it. It will screw up your access to photo.net. Do a search here and you'll find lots of info on this. Search the site for "NIS 2003". Get yourself some other security Software. Zone Alarm is a free firewall and AVG is a free virus protection program. Both work well.
constance_cook
Bob: I'm running Norton 2003 on one of my computers and Norton Corporate on the other and I have no trouble accessing the articles. I just tried it again to be sure. What gives? Did I luck into a later version or is it a function of my DSL that it's OK? Do I need to change my computer at work? anirban_sett
Hmm ...Interesting. Thanks Bob for the answer. I've an older machine which runs Sygate personal firewall and I should mention that I 've no problem accessing photo.net .Easy way could be to install Sygate in my new machine as well, although I'm not sure how it stacks up against Norton in terms of overall capability. anirban_sett
Well, I was able to find previous posts related to this and Bob had a workaround which I'm copy and pasting verbatim here "If you try it, it's your responsibility.... IF you own NORTON READ THIS 1. Open Norton Internet Security 2. Click Options at the top and then "Internet Security" or "Personal Firewall" 3. Click on the Firewall Tab 4. Highlight 80 in the HTTP Port List and Click Remove 5. Click OK on the bottom " I did this and was able to look at all the pages. I've no idea if this is good or bad for my PCs security, so I might go back to Sygate/ZoneAlarm.
bobatkins
I'm glad it worked! Since I don't have NIS on my machine I can't try these suggestions, I'm just passing along 3rd hand information.
mark_a2
This has actually worked. I do not know why, but it does. Thanks
